  • buffy - I sympathise having had a back injury for years. If the pain is on the disc, use a cold compress such as an ice pack wrapped in a tea towel for 20 minutes, 3 times a day. If it is to the side of the spine, use heat treatments. You may find laying on your side with a ipllow between your knees helps as this keeps everything in alignment or if you lay on your stomach, put the pillow under you at around hip level.

If it is like a shock down the leg, it is probably the sciatic nerve jarring because of it being next to an inflamed disc.

Take paracetamol for the pain and ibuprofen to take down the inflammation. If it gets worse, see your GP to up the pain/anti inflammatory stakes. He can also give you a weak diazepam to stop the muscle spams.

Wow BB thank you for the detailed suggestions. Its a horrible burning sensation(when I move) and then dull ache - if I sit still.

I think it kept me awake last night and now I am tired and stroppy. might try a nap and the pillow thing. Thank you xxxxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Well, I'm looking at what's left to buy from the kids Christmas lists, and where to get things cheapest.

    Need.....more.....time (and money) :D

obviously don't take any of what I say as true 'advice' if you know what I mean, but Ithought I'd pass on a few bits of what I've learnt over the years (some from my GP, some from the chiropractor who favoured gentle action rather than aggressive treatment). The burning could well be the sciatic nerve if it's kind of to the side, down your (TMI alert!) bum and hip. I kind of have that all the time down the weak side on me, it gets worse during the night very often and I wake with a horrible burning sensation around that area on the left hand side.

    I'm a bit peeved.

I arranged online with royal mail to re-deliver a package today which needs signing for and it hasn't come. I left a note stuck on the door when I popped out and there was no sign anyone had been and the note was still there. Can't see the van still being out  Booger. It means doing another re-delivery and I don't have the card now and the sorting office shuts at 2
