  • I think its very knaive to think 2.5% off VAT will stop a business cutting back staff.
If a business is struggling it is not going to say hang on, i can keep staff on now. No way.
Presumably you can also apply that to a government thinking that reducing VAT from 17.5% to 15% for thirteen months is somehow going to kick-start the economy. :rotfl:
Thanks to all who post constructively.

It will not help the economy or save jobs, but it will put a few more quid in the businessmens pockets, yes SKY included.
They already have one tax dodge with the mag. Claim it is part of the subscription (around £5) because that amount is VAT free as no VAT on mags. However, you can cancel the mag but they wont reduce the price accordingly. Nice tax dodge Mr Murdoch.

As a Virgin Media customer I rang to ask about VAT and was told that domestic customer prices will fall to reflect the VAT changes.

So will Poundland have to change its name to 97.9p,land? ;):D

No, sadly everything was £1 today. :D

I thought about asking, but didn't want the explanation that it was a pound shop :D

I think we all know that most companies won't pass any VAT cuts onto us, without upping prices.

I think they think we are all stupid :o
  • I think this is shocking since the price only went up in September. I know it might be a problem with their systems and reducing their price but if they can put it up then they can put it down.

They should not be aloud to do this

Why not? Business is business and that are in it to make a profit, you can't expect prices to remain as they are forever. They haven't reduced prices to take off VAT, and nor should they...the whole point of it was to give businesses extra profit to stay afloat through the storm.

They've got to find some way to pay the FA Premier League for the TV rights.

The likes of Ronaldo, Rooney etc are having a laugh at all you Sky customers.

Is it just me who received a letter today advising of a further price increase? So not only have they not passed on any VAT saving but they are now putting prices up yet again! From March my package has gone up another £5 a month and so will my Sky broadband. I've sent them an email to say how unfair I think it is but think maybe its time to shop around....
