  • chunky there's me prattling and you are posting that. Don't really now what i can say that will be any comfort to you. I hope you are feeling a bit better yourself after that complication.

Please be kind to yourself and don't do anything to hinder your own recovery.

I am very sorry to hear about your aunt. It is not pleasant at all. At least you have managed to see her and you will be there for your relatives, and that is the most you can do. I hope that her pain is well managed and she manages to go peacefully. It never feels enough though does it.

Big hugs for you and your family.

Can i ask opinions please. I'm reading a book about teaching young children to read. Does anyone have any thoughts on 2 year olds reading? I think it can only be a good thing as DS1 loves books and is starting to memorise some stories like the hungry caterpillar, but i don't want to 'be a teacher' and spoil it for him. Nicki how early did your DD read? I know she reads well for her age now.

michelle - imo it's never too early to start reading and it can only be a good thing. If your DS has a love of books already, then I would encourage it. Take it at his pace, but do not worry about 'being a teacher'! You won't spoil anything - you'll be giving him a head start!

michelle...all I do with DD2 who's 19mths is to read though a book and point to the pictures and I try to point to each word as I read them. I think they'll pick it up as they go along.

I need a new food processor. I don't use mine for years, then decide to use it and remember how useful it is...and then the safety catch bit snaps off as the lid fell on the floor :( I did try and fix it but it snapped off again.

Fed up of this morning already...spent another hour doing nothing...argh!

The same thing happened to my brand new (only used once but bought by a friend) food processor - Valli has a good memory - I ordered mine from here I think:

Michelle you are teaching him the most important thing about reading - that it can be fun; also the 'mechanics' ie the direction books are read in...as long as it is not forced it wiill be fine...also you can establish reading habits ...nice and calm settling at night before bed...all these skills are valuable...
when it comes to 'new' books you can be teaching him, in the most casual way, to look at the pictures for clues. It's all good stuff.
With my DS he clearly had an interest in number so he did learn counting (he loved counting steps) that was the way he was wired...personally I would rather you support with something they are interested in rather than force them in any direction so I sent a numerate not a literate boy to nursery...

Hiya! I was 99% sure it was you...

    how are things?

That's why my dad has accused me of learning the answers to the Trivial Pursuit questions...if I don't know stuff straight off I can usually find an association which jogs my memory and as an avid reader well I read what you posted so it is in there somewhere:rotfl:I would be ace in a quiz team as long I wasn't expected to know a lot of sporting stuff...there are bits in there (ie my brain) though...
