The process is long, but will fly by...mine took about 3 months or so, which is really good, they wrote me a letter asking me to start in a weeks time! Had to ask nicely at work for them to let me go early. They have any pcso jobs going? Would be a good idea to start there if they have vacancies.

My app was really quick, was surprised. But a bloke I know applied to west yorks and it was taking ages, so he applied to the met(!!!) and got in. Then he got a letter about west yorks about a yr later for the next stage - so took about 2 yrs in total:rotfl:!!! As it happens, he hated being in police, did 8 yrs in met and then left to come back to yorks, and now works in local sandwich shop!

Forgive me for interferring but i just checked on their site and they have pcso vacancies! Really is worth doing it, that way, you get the experience, get to know the criminals (not that you wanna, but will help when ya a copper!) and you will be familiar with all the procedures etc.
