  • Thanks Buffy. I did feel a bit raw posting that. Especially as it went on forever.

My dog has been a blessing for me.

My sister never takes her for a walk. She is a materialistic so and so and wanted to buy her a coat to go walking in for her birthday ... yet she never takes her for a walk herself.

I said to her, if you want to treat the dog for her birthday, take her for a walk, it will cost you nothing and her face will light up and she'll do a dance as she loves going out. Buy her a coat and she won't bat an eyelid.

    Simple.

    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Hi Clear,

    Thanks for the reply.

Yep, family are most important, especially during these times.

Maybe all the worlds financial troubles will make a lot of others appreciate this like we do.

Just read this thread and Migwella sums up things perfectly.
I've just had my DGS for the weekend and his little face lights up so much when he comes to stay. He's only 3 and the most important thing for him is to feel loved and have plenty of time playing and attention.
I should've been at work all weekend but even though in debt and the money would've been welcome.,it was more important to spend time with him as his mummy and daddy have split up and DD was moving into a new house and he wasn't well.

Too right. People are the most important. Possessions have never been important to me either. I was quite happy with my life the way it used to be. I rented my flat from the council, owned an old banger, and my income was on the lowish side. I always made sure that I had time for people. I still do but these days, I won't usually hang around chit chatting with customers for very long. There has to be a balance. A few of my customers are elderly and live alone so I do sometimes feel a bit guilty about cutting a conversation short in order to drive on to the next job. Sometimes, I even make sure that I do certain jobs last in the day so that the conversation won't affect my income.
A couple of years ago my best friend died. I took a lot of time out of my work schedule to spend time with him in his last few months or so. My debtr increased partly because of that. Do I have regrets about the finances? Too right. Would my regrets have been bigger if I had chosen to work instead of spending time with him? Absolutely. Time is the great thing that cannot ever be replaced.

You're welcome, your thread has really helped me too, I'm just about to hit rock bottom emotionally and the one thing staving it off is that at least others are in the same boat as me (much as I'd like none of us to be in it).
