I make all sorts with turkey mince, I hardly ever buy beef mince anymore unless to make cottage pie.

You can use it to make Spag Bol, Lasagne, Chilli etc..gives them a lovely light flavour..they are not as heavy as made with beef..if I'm worried about flavour I just bung an extra chicken stock cube in.

Very low fat comapred to beef too and much cheaper!

I always get compliments when I make these with Turkey mince, so people do like it.

    Hi,
when you say that you tried burgers and kebabs and they were no good,
do you mean that they tasted awful or that it didn't work??
if it's the second, how did you make it ??
I tend to add breadcrumbs to both bind and bulk out the meat, then you can add various things for flavour, mustard works well as does tobasco, worstershire sauce, soy sauce, grated ginger,( for an oriental flavour) garlic, onions, herbs...
the list goes on and on, as turkey is quite a mild flavoured meat I find that you can do alot with it...

I made mini turkey burgers once too & they tasted not nice :o it put me off for ages but I had some success with meatloaf. I mixed the turkey with chopped onion, herbs, tablespoon of tom sauce/puree, an egg to bind and some barbeque seasoning then put it all in a loaf tin and baked it till it looked done. It was very tasty both hot & cold. It's making me think now ..... I might have to track some more minced turkey down and make it :rotfl:

Keep for when you make burgers etc. with stronger flavoured mince like beef or lamb, and substitute a quarter with turkey mince to get a lower fat version

I've never been a fan of beef, so I tend to use turkey mince (when I can find it!!)

I wish you could buy chicken mince..

The turkey mince I use anywhere that others would use pork and beef. pasta bakes/chili/lasagna etc. I find it delicious and brings out the flavour of the vegetables and stuff.
  • I use turkey mince in cottage pie and it makes a nice turkey korma, but you could use whatever strength of curry you're happy with.
