Just beware of Greeks bearing gifts, e.g. higher-than-usual interest rates and limited/no FSA guarantee.....sounds a little too familiar....

Hi They emailed it to me this morning:

    Dear Mrs *** ******

As you may already know, the Bank of England recently decreased the Base Rate from 4.50% to 3.00%. In line with this, we've decreased the rates on our Egg Savings Account (internet) by 1.50% as shown below.

The rate below is applicable for the first 12 months from account opening:

    shim_1x1.gifBalance Up until
    13 Nov 2008 From
    14 Nov 2008 Variable rate including introductory 12 month variable bonus £1 to £100,000 6.55% gross pa/AER 5.05% gross pa/AER

    Afternoon Suesie

Just to say the 5.05% rate is for accounts opened between 11/10/08 and 7/11/08. New accounts opened today get the 4.5% rate. I've got a big investment in the 5.05% paying account at the moment (well £1 to be precise :D ).

The full Egg rates can be found at

    http://new.egg.com/visitor/0,,3_54050--View_451,00.html
MSE. Abandon hope all ye who enter here :D

seems fine and safe to me

Capital One Bank (Europe) plc is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority - FSA register number 204440 (www.fsa.gov.uk) and is also a member of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (www.fscs.org.uk).
