Re uni fees, I was actually putting a little each month into a FTSE tracker from her birth, but lost nerve and cashed-in just before the 2008 crash, but possibly good move as was quids-in and have since read some experts who now even question the mantra that stock-market is best way to save long term..(we've had two big crashes now: 2002 dot-bomb AND 2008 bank-bomb).

yes I my Dad got a grant for my brother in 1969 (69 again!) and for me in 1978 -but stupid me packed Poly in (could have gone to Uni but prefer to go to Stafford Poly with my mate-idiot!) so went through the Uni of life and gained the experience at the sharp end as to say ,but I do regret it now -wanted to be a History or Geography teacher -like my brother who will now retire at 59 on his nice teachers pension paid for by the Taxpayer -his wife retires at 58 next year also a Teacher -both can not wait -both teaching for 36 years or so and hate it since Nu Labour lot targets and manner of rubbish and my brother was always a Labour supporter until TB and now McBroon -says he will not vote

interesting stuff ST - my (now) Aussie sister also regrets not going to college as she's sure she would make a good teacher of primary stage kids...rules are similar in Aus about needing degree. Not an easy job by all accounts, teaching - got to have the knack for controlling trouble-makers in class; don't think I would.

me too I went to a Tech Grammar School -had to pass 11 plus and Boys only until it turned Comp in the 3 rd yesr -but still run the same as before -very strict teachers ,cane, blackboard duster thrown at unruly classmates and threatened with being "slung" down the stairs if do not behave (not me another lad) very tough and worked there was never any trouble 1971-1978 when I left -oh we had a water fight when in upper 6th when at 18 we should had more sense got banned from the upper 6th common room for free periods for a week:eek: never did us any harm.
so I would probsably be locked up as that would be my teaching approach firm!

Claiming benefit from us poor (and I mean poor) tax payers is one thing, but having enough to send some back home is something else altogether.

Debenhams and Next did ok (ish), strange that M&S seem to be doing worse, though their official trading figures out tomorrow.

verey interesting H have a good blue chip client list -funny Israel has some very good hi-tech world leading companies and innovators .
