    Hi all,

So I am one of the veterans then. Thanks amistupid.

But it is not all done and dusted yet, at least for me. There must be others like me in this thread whose fixed terms accounts mature before Christmas and who are wondering when they will get the forms, how long it will actually take to get the cheque, if it will all go smoothly etc... Can you let us know if any of you is on the same boat please?

I wonder if there will be people who will blame me for being greedy etc... Hope not, but there seems to be some hostility in the forums, don't understand why...

BTW, hasn't nilrem jumped threads yet or should I change my username to amiblind?

    Take care all...
    nicky_boo

Yes, I'm in the same boat. Mine matures on 16th December and I've elected to let it run for the full term. I know the paper method could take 6 weeks, but that is a lot less loss than the interest I would have lost otherwise. It just means another couple of months of anxiety!

Unfortunately, according to Martin, the AA rate has dropped to 4.53%. They just haven't bothered to update their website yet (obviously trying to lure a few more in).

I have a ledger (well, actually a notebook!) where I write down all my savings accounts and interest rates. The amount of crossings out in the last few weeks ...

    ING Direct [strike]6.41%[/strike] [strike]4.41%[/strike] [strike]4.25%[/strike] 2.75%

    AA Internet Saver [strike]6.46%[/strike] [strike]6.28%[/strike] 4.53%

It's all a bit grim really.

Oh no! It's in the Money section of The Times today - The AA Internet Saver Account 6.46%. Really can't keep up with this. If they keep going lower and lower we'll be paying the banks to look after our money.

1 Don't buy a putter until you have had a chance to throw it.

2 A golf match is a test of your skill against your opponents luck.

    Joke

After 30 years of marriage a wife took a peak in her husband's secret drawer. There were 3 golf balls and £6000. When she asked him about them
he said that each time he was unfaithful he bought a golf ball. The wife thought 'Well 3 times in thirty years isn't so bad.' Then he added 'Each time I got a dozen balls I sold them.

    Joke

Golf balls are like eggs. They are white, sold by the dozen and you need to buy fresh ones each week

"Rates are effective from 18 July 2008."

So they haven't adjusted yet since the BOE reduced by a total of 2%

Ahh, just goes to show all that glitters aint gold! This rate chasing can be a bit tiresome and with the current drops, a real pain. Still, for me anyway and probably many others, safety is an issue now and if icesave has taught me anything its 'ya cant take anyfing at face value'

    The hunt goes on!!

    Thanks Tuggy
