As I mentioned in a previous post,
I feel I have wasted so much time these past weeks, trying to get a mix and reasonable rate for savings, I'm really now having 2nd thoughts about whether it's worth the hassle.
Like so many, I'vewatched my pension value drop big time beyond my control and as an average punter with a small amount of hard earned savings within my control [how naive] and on the way to retirement I'm trying to not lose out any further.
These financial weasels will always be one jump ahead - I rang the AA yesterday to confirm if their rate will drop [as mentioned on this thread] - they tell me as from Monday it going down from 6.46 to 4.53
and the opening cheque hasn't even cleared yet!
So that'll have to be transferred out again, I hate being suckered.
Suppose they're relying on general public apathyto leave money in.
The Tesco a/c is still running @ 6.00% variable if anyone needs to easy access their funds, which is where my AA funds will be heading.
Does anyone else find this totally  maddening +depressing?
End of whinge.0 -

Poor you, I'm depressed at my money market pension losing 13k in last year, but I'm 18 years from retirement.

Today we went cycling and it was dry, first time for weeks, it was really cold and by the time we reached the cafe my fingers and toes were so cold they were hurting. We had beans on toast and tea at the cafe then decided to take the shortest route home before we got too cold again, 20 miles from the cafe the wife remembers she forgot to pay the bloomimg bill! I said sod that I am not cycling all the way back now so when I got home I found their number and gave them a call, "are you the beans on toast people she said?" Lol I reckon they had already alerted Interpol! :rotfl:0

:rotfl: :rotfl: You should definitely leave your wife in charge of the finances. She's got it sussed!0 -
Are you spending your Ice-y money on beans Nilrem? You crazy fool.....
Just logged ontoday, caught up with the old thread, so glad (virtually) everyone is sorted, and found this thread, huzzah!
And even more huzzah, if my on-line bank balance is anything to go by, I will have some Ice-y money myself tomorrow- yee-ha! Thanks Widow Twanky!:xmassmile
Now, what do I do with it?....I'm thinking, a bit sensible (a wee overpayment on the mortgage), a bit of fun (Christmas clobber), and house stuff (towards rather expensive but lovely wardrobes). No point in it sitting around at miniscule interest rates, the theory of putting into into an ISA is great, but having seen the plummeting rates, I'm gonna stick with the Barclays Fixed rate monthly saver at 7.75% (but a max of £250/mo:() and go for it with the rest. Enjoy your Sunday night everyone, I'm off to celebrate with a wee snifter!Won Mulberry Bag Jan 090 -
