has anyone done brisket in a slow cooker ?

Yes, I have, and silverside too. There is only myself and dh when he is home (ds won't eat meat), so we usually have smallish pieces of meat. I chop an onion and throw that in, chop some mushrooms and in they go, add meat and enough stock made with an oxo cube to half cover the meat, and then I add a glass of wine. Yummy. Obviously if you have children then the wine may not be to their taste, but it does add a certain something.

I do the cheap gammon joints in mine -- they come out looking and tasting like much more expensive ones, and are becoming a firm favourite in our household :D

Hi everyone  Been away for a few days so I missed the end of the November thread and have 9 pages to get through to catch up with you all in December.

Can I declare £304.87 for November and go for £350 in December, please Mrs M Technically it's a 5 week month as I always used to shop on a Monday, though these days I try to hold out until I really need have to shop, but figured I might as well add in a little extra to cover the silly season :D

Hope everyone's doing well so far. See you all again when I catch up!

  • First spend of the month, and it's £12.45. I noticed that Morrisons have quite a few things on half price, so I stocked up on some of the things we like. I also got some stuff we really need, so it's not been a bad day. Not feeling too good now though, so I'll update my sig and try to relax a bit, I think.
Continually trying the Grocery Challenge. Gotta keep trying!
  • Please can I be put down for £160 again this month - thank you

  • not a good start.... its only the 1st of the month and spent £12.17 in Waitrose just to get out of the car park. DD 1 had a dentist appt in a strange town and it was the only car park i could find as it was getting late. Also the appt ran over she was hungry and then had her gym class so had to buy a sandwich. drink crisps etc... something i dont usually do! must admit i did need most of it but usually buy smart price

  • Hi All

Made my first spend on the grocery challenge! Please see signature for details! I was determined not to go to Tescos as i have zero self control and would end up buying cookies and muffins! Therefore i went to town, and went to boots for nappies and wipes,, and to the indian market for Fruit and Veg. Ended up spending £22.56 but i did get 80 odd nappies for that, plus mik and fruit and veg for purreeing for baby. I really wouldn't have been able to do that without help though. I have two girls DD1 (2) and DD2 (5 months) therefoe getting anywhere is a hassle. I could not have carried all my shopping with both girls in the pram so I left DD1 with my Mum and used the spare seat in the pram to carry the nappies!

Today i made corned beef hash with the left over veggies from Sunday dinner for lunch, and Spag Bol for tea. I've sent DH to work (he's on nights) with his second helping and am intending on making a lasange with the leftovers. I've tried to make a cheese sauce tonight but managed to burn the sauce while sorting DD1 out for bed and have just realised that the lasange sheets are way out of date  Oh well, it will taste the same with pasta swirls won't it :p

BTW someone asked what things people put in their slow cookers? I put whole lamb shanks in mine and cook them all day, they come out lovely and so tender you can cut them with a spoon, yum!! :p

Oh I've dug out my slow cooker, but can't find the intructions and they're not on the website, noone has a Prima ABM12 by any chance do they????

See yousoon, off to do some purreeing!
