    Hi Anne Marie
Enjoyed your programme and read your update you have mentioned new cars and holiday to Florida if you have the money for those things how come you didnt use it to reduce the mortgage. Having been to Florida twice I know how expensive it is I assume you are going to Disney or did the BBC provid the holiday?

    Hi

Actually it was only one car and I think you may need to re-read my post again. As I stated, we are taking a year out of trying to pay off the mortgage, I think we deserve a break after what we have been through. I can tell you that Disney is costing us £2986 in total. I booked mny flight last year and went through comparison sites and cashback site to get the best deal (£1128 for 4 flying with Virgin), I shopped around for 3 days for the Villa, again getting the cheapest deal for what we wanted and so on.... Whilst we are there we will be budgeting, but not £130 a week I can tell you! I wish the BBC had paid for the holiday - ha what a joke. One thing the BBC are is stingy! Which reminds me to tell you all that we did not get paid for doing this documentary, contrary to what some people believe.:p

Of course you didn't! The BBC are probably not allowed to do that under their charter or something.

I have to say well done to you Anne-Marie and Sean. I was so moved with the miscarrage, and I don't know how you get over that in the middle of a documentary. So well done. I can't imagine doing something like this. Yes, I'd love to get rid of the mortgage (who wouldn't?) but to try to do that in two years when 'real life' also comes into play, and to do it on TV, must be really hard.

I still disagree with the premise of the programme, but well done to you for taking part and doing as well as you did!

Enjoy your year of NOT doing it!
  • Anne Marie and Sean,
I was really interested to see the original programme about you trying to pay off your mortgage in two years as we are a family with young children ourselves and your situation was the one case that we could most closely identify with. However after watching the original programme (not the follow up the other night) I ended up feeling so sad for you both. You seemed so miserable with the pressure that you were under and I thought that you might well pay off your mortgage in two years but would you still be a family (ie together) at the end of it? I am pleased to see that you are still together and nice though it would be, that's more important than paying off your mortgage in my book! All the best for your future.
  • I have to say how proud i am of both Anne-Marie and Sean. Ann-Marie is my sister and with her help i have now been shown the error of my ways with my spending! She has taken the time to get me selling on e-Bay and i even have a business starting up in addition to my normal work as a student midwife. Yes they've been stressed and pushed to the limit and YES, they DO deserve some time out to have a holiday - well done to both of you!!!!!

Can't believe some of the above comments! If they want to go to Florida let them! The way some British Holidays are going, sometimes Florida is cheaper!

I really enjoyed the programme. People have been saying that Sean did not push himself. Looking back at it, it is all well and good for that James bloke to try and push Sean. But at the end of the day, this James is a millionaire, he has nothing to loose. The result of Sean's business for James is self satisfaction, for Sean it is his livelihood. For Sean, every decision is an important one, he has to think is this the right decision for the business and my young family. Sometimes it takes years to figure out the right way forward.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with this part. When somebody such as Jamie uses their contacts, their knowledge and hands every opportunity to you in order for you to succeed you take it. At the very least you make sure you're organised and prepared when he's arranged for you to record your cd's which have the potential of making you a lot of money for a day or two's work. Making sure you've taken your paperwork along is a good idea for a start.

Not to drag on with this but I feel I have to make a point here, clever editing made Sean look foolish. The fact was, he did have his paperwork, but he had left one of the 3 scripts it in the car just outside, but this wasn't a problem as he had a back up on his laptop he had with him. Jamie did that on TV to make himself look good.

Perhaps the editing was done in this way to make it look like this was the reason why they didn't manage to pay off their mortgage in 2 years rather than through the advise given etc.

As Sean mentioned earlier, the bit about him looking at teletext was while Anne-Marie was getting her mic put on and it has been clearly edited in such a way as to make Sean look lazy.

The 2 year plan is a great idea but it won't work for most of the people, often through no fault of their own. If any of the participants do manage to pay off their mortgage in the next 2-5 years then it should still be looked as a success for them.
  • Whether it was editing or not (and I'm sure Jamie would have had no say in what the BBC put in or took out of the programme) the fact remains that you would ensure you were organised and ready. Scripts would be with you and ready for you to use and not scattered around in different places.

This incident also reminded me of the first year when Sean held a seminar only to turn up five minutes before it began and then couldn't get the computer set up and working leaving the participants waiting for a good couple of hours or so iirc. Again a great opportunity completely wasted.

I don't disagree that you did pay off a great amount in the two years and that really is fantastic but I still feel that Sean wasted many opportunities and didn't make the most of the chances he was given.
