  • I remembered you as soon as the programme started Sean, as I was hooked on the NLP concept and had already heard a bit about NLP when I was studying doing a creative management course.

I was particularly interested in the course you went on for NLP as I am interested in pursuing the management and phobias angle (rather than non-smoking, etc).

I also wondered why you think you had less luck with corporates on the non-smoking front - was it a lack of experience in marketing skills, in your opinion?

I think your programme portrayed a real life experience of what paying your mortgage in two years means.

When you start a process off that is stretching for two years, you don't realise what is around the corner for you personally. I have been studying my MBA programme for five years - during that time, people have died, the trials and tribulations of my love life have taken their toll, I have changed jobs, family members have had ups and downs, etc. When you take on a challenge like this, you selfishly forget how life is full of ups and downs and challenges that will put your personal "challenge" into perspective.

I would be interested to hear the "casey-pool" post-programme story.

Best wishes to you and your family.

    Hi Sean and Anne-Marie,

Great show, was quite frustrating to watch as you both obviously had talents that you could use but just seemed to lack that cutting edge when needed!

I personally thought Anne Marie was a bit selfish not doing the singing because she "didn't like doing it any more". Please don't take this the wrong way, its meant to be constructive criticism, plus its easy for me to say, but I don't particularly love my job but I still do it... same for the weight watchers thing, why did you quit?!?!

I also found it hard to watch you getting all the help Sean but then not building on that to make things happen... you have a great talent...

On the plus side (because it certainly wasn't all bad!!!) you now have the contract to sell the cds through the home shopping channel - hope it is still going well!!!

Plus you obviously still have a very strong marriage and two great kids!!!

AND you got the hall decorated at last!!! :D Got to admit, Anne Marie was right on that one mate! Us blokes stick together, but in my house its her wanting to decorate and me saying NO!!!

    Great work guys!!

  • Wow! If I could pay off an extra £30k+ from my mortgage over 2 years I'd be well pleased. Well done. OK, so it wasn't the whole amount, but you've demonstrated that significant inroads can be made whilst life throws things at you along the way.

Can I ask though, are you still focused on the challenge of paying off your mortgage now the programme has ended, or has the pressure gone? If you are, have you set yourself a timescale? I only ask since without that, I'm not sure I could do it - i'd be too tempted to go out and spend on things like holidays, gadgets, cars etc.

Oh dear it's our episode tonight.

Please don't think you have to be nice about the programme just because we are members of this forum. Forget about that and be honest.

    Cheers

Ok this is my view. As I've said earlier I think 2 years to pay off a mortgage is unrealistic for a whole lot of people, and even for the people it is possible for, I think it comes at a considerable risk of putting a huge strain on relationships and family life.

I had read reviews that tradegy struck, though didn't know what and thought it inappropriate to ask on here, or even if you'd be able to say. Big hugs to you and Anne Marie.

On the seminars, I would like to lose weight but I'd be reluctant to spend £35 on a ticket till I knew you were brill :D . I thought perhaps a free/cheap taster like you did on the hols would be a good starting point.

The show in Doncaster, what date was it on? I have my own personal reason;) to think that wasn't promoted well. My suggestion would have been to get the local paper to do an article along the lines of 'BBC star at local theatre'. Of course you may have done this and it's possible I was away at time.
  • Please, please don't take this the wrong way Sean but my, how I could have throttled you if I could have reached into the screen!

You really needed constant pushing and just couldn't find it in yourself to push yourself or your product. You seem to need someone else to do everything else for you constantly and seemed so dependant on this.

Anne Marie is an angel she honestly is but there's only so much leaning on her and others that you can do. You really do need more self confidence it seems as you've clearly got the ability - you just need the drive.

I did think that I would be flogging the BBC connection like fury when I saw it!!! I am guessing if was not allowed in the house rules??

Do you know I cannot believe the nasty narrow minded comments some people will make:

GET OFF YOUR BACKSIDE AND TRY TO FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL.
That is what these people have done.:T :T :T
It is no wonder this country is in such a state if people think that the only way they can achieve anything is to win the lottery.

Sean and Anne-Marie, I loved it. I laughed with you and cried with you. So you didn't do it- YET! You worked damn hard at it. £32000 in 2 years- what an achievement!
Yes there is work to be done and I think that Anne-Marie needs to become Seans manager. I think that your problem Sean is low self esteem and Anne-Marie can help you with that she is a driving force.
I think people are being simplistic when they want to know why you gave up singing, it's like baring your soul and in a fairly small environment is very intimate. Giving up the weight loss thing? Well I have to say I think it's amazing that you didn't give up a whole lot more. The thing with having given it up at the time you did is that you can still chose to go back to it if you so desire without having underperformed due to depression.
Give this couple some credit please- they have had a very public loss and a very public 2 years. That coupled with Sean having to work away for quite some time must surely have had an effect on both Sean and Anne-Marie.

I personally would like to give my thanks to you for being so brave as to do this programme and let us into your lives for 2 years. In a way (selfish I know) I am kind of pleased that you didn't get all the way there because we get to now share with you the rest of your journey on this board (I really really hope!). You come across as a loving and caring couple who still argue (which is great) and I am honored to have been allowed a peek inside your lives.
For those who are so happy to poo poo this topic- shall I send round my cousin with his camera and his news team? Then we can follow your progress while you sit and wait for your lottery win.
