Morning all,
Strange day here as both kids are off - ds1's violin exam clashes with his school French exam - so the school are giving it to us for him to do tomorrow - but it was a half day anyway so he's not in, and ds2 is off as the school is closed for parent teacher consultations. Luckily I have quite a bit of TOIL at the moment and flexible employers - but honestly the schools seem to have so many odd days off.
My parents arrive this teatime - the house has been decluttered although I need to do a surface clean and tidy in the sitting room and kitchen. Not sure whether to wash the dining table cloth - ds1 put a buttered crumpet on it with no plate and left some grease stains - shall see how we do with time. In the meantime I have to schlep the kids across Belfast for their music exams to the Lisburn Road, get back to Holywood to pick up French exam and then up to Castlereagh to see ds2's teacher. (ok it means more if you live in NI - but it's my rant!!!:D )
Think I will head to the butchers later and pick up a nice chicken - I got cabbage (for me, Mum and ds2) and leeks yesterday at the greengrocers and make some champ to go with it.
Lunch will be a tidying out of the fridge and bread box:eek:
Have a good day everyone - happy birthday to Ruby and congrats to Hester on the scarf sales - enjoy the fish and chips to everyone who's having them tonight - yum!“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Good morning
Congratulations to Jet - you are doing the right thing I am sure.
Everyone seems to be having fish & chips except me - we had those last nightinstead of the cottage pie because little bear was being relentless. At the moment I can't turn my back for a second, and now he can get out of his cot by himself :eek::eek: He is still off colour, but not so green nosed and he is up to mischief all the time. He has been climbing all round the living room this morning and things like a candle lighter that I thought were safely out of reach - aren't
Somewhere in this house is a stairgate that will fit his unusually narrow door - but where? I remember trying to work out the instructions (absolutely opaque, very scary!) but I have not seen it since. And darling father is coming up tomorrow  :j:eek::j.
And tonight little bear and I are on our own because dear heart is going to a friend's and staying overnight.:T So I hope to get some excavation done tonight.
Tonight is cottage pie (or else!) with veggies
So, I am honestly going to get moving now - really - and start on the living room, because he has suddenly decided he can reach a lot of places which are no longer safe to keep scissors, matches etc. Also it is extremely in need of a deep clean. I need a shovelIf I keep coming back on here and posting, tell me off!

Nothing done re living room. Washing on.
My darling elderly uncle has rang three times this morning - each time for a lengthy chat. He needed to unload over a difficult, unfair, unpleasant family situation which he is likely to receive blame which is not his. I have tried to be cheerful to him, but I am now in bits. Little bear has not slept this morning, which means he will want to nap this afternoon, which means I will not be able to do anything in my darling father's room because not only is it across from where little bear will be having a nap (I hope) but if he is not napping he cries if he sees me toing and froing and not going in to him. Dear heart is likely to be home soon, but I have no idea if I need to make him lunch or not. Nor do I know if I will be working with him, round him or going on a much needed trip to Makro.
So I am going to now wait for dear heart to get home and tootle on the computer as a sort of rest, then sort out what is going on and then spring into a cleaning frenzy - or not depending on him!

Thanks for asking - he's about the same as last night really. I dosed him up with night nurse last night and day nurse this morning....I've broken all our usual house rules because usually it's sweets only at weekends and we NEVER use the car if we can walk but today I've sent DH to work on his motorcycle and taken DS2 to school in the car (and I'll be fetching him home in it) and I've sent him to school with a pocket full of things to "suck" to keep his coughing reflex at bay and his throat lubricated (tunes, lockets, polo mints, boiled sweets - you name it and he's got it :o). Just hoping that the dancing and singing he has to do at the final rehearsal this morning won't provoke a coughing fit as he has a constant tickle.
Anyway - to OS-ing:
Breakfast was HM pancakes from the freezer
Packed lunches are HM rolls baked with a filling of ham and cheese, HM cake and fruit
Dinner will be probably be omelettes and salad but am not yet sure - depends on when/how many I am feeding which is still an unknown quantity.
Horrible grey day here and house is a tip - must go and do something about it before parents come over later, but can't really concentrate to be honest as tooth is still painful and am toooooooo worried about DS2People Say that life's the thing - but I prefer reading

Right, before I forget to say it, Happy Birthday Miss Ruby.
I probably won't be posting much, if at all, next week. Mr LW is using up his annual leave, so we'll have..... er..... other things to do.;)
Seriously, I do have some OS tasks lined up that I need his help for - sorting out the wooden chest I keep my candles in being very near the top of the list.
I'm still not at all well, but trying to plod on regardless. Feels like I have lead weights in my lungs. I feel a prolonged session with a bowl of hot water, Olbas oil and a towel coming on......
Luckily Mr LW has offered to cook egg'n'chips for us when he gets in, so I don't have to worry about dins. And pud will consist of a couple of coffee and walnut buns that are left in the tin, I want them used up as they won't keep til he returns to work.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hi everyone:)
Have already swished round and got the WM, TD and SC on with a veggie stew in it:D
Going to Mum's later as she's back form her holiday, and has the Grandkids for the weekend, one with a tummy bug, so i'm not sure whether to go in case I infect my preg DD:rolleyes:
The Changeling is a fantastic film, we really enjoyed it last night, and I also managed to get DD's main xmas pressies,- 2 massive bean chairs which I have let her have already as they are too big to store:o
Anyway HUGGLES to all in need today, esp, PAM, BETH, SMOKEY:A AND Happy Birthday to RUBY :bdaycake: I love that name!!:D"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Afternoon all.
Went well at the hospital, doctor was really nice and she has given me some other avenues to explore, going to get my GP to refer me to a dermatologist. Going ahead with the surgery though, under local anaesthetic! Am slightly worried that with time my whole head will just turn into one big cyst. Have a load of teeny ones on my face as well as the troublesome ones on my earlobes, hopefully the dermatologist will be able to help stop that happening. Much better than my first surgical consult, he just looked, said yes, surgery, and got me to sign the form.
I'm sooooo tired though! Couldn't sleep last night, didn't feel really worried but must have been. Only got about three/four hours . Bound to stay up really late tonight at friends too, if I don't fall asleep on the sofa, lol.
Very proud of us, we had to go to the Metro Centre (biggest retail park in Europe  ) to get a present for friends birthday and we did decide to have some breakfast there as it's payday but apart from that all we bought was the pressie, even managed to go into Waterstones to get it and not buy myself any other books, a major achievement for me. OH even asked if there was anything else I wanted to get whilst we were there and was surprised when I said no.
Got back, made ginger biscuit cake and constructed the lasagne. OH helped with white sauce, thinking that I might just start buying packets as it's quite a faff!
Dipped some hobnobs in chocolate last night and set them on some greased tin foil which seemed to do the trick as they didn't really stick :T They look really posh and so thank you whoever first suggested this (sorry, memory like sieve). Got our clothes packed, cats toys and bed and pressie ready to go. OH has popped out to do a few errands before we leave so just chilling on here for a little bit, might have a nap though. Made a list of the things which are in the fridge etc that we need to take so we don't forget anything. Also still need to pack up cats bowls and food and cat herself for the journey, these are always last minute things. Feeling really organised (makes a change for me) and pleased with myself for getting it all done. Last night I thought I was just going to end up taking the mince for the lasagne (cooked with veg and stock and red wine) and make some pasta to go with, got it all done though.
Happy birthday to your daughter Ruby, hope everyone who is ill gets better soon. Very cold and crisp here this morning, we passed a car wash where some poor bloke was handwashing cars, felt sorry for him. Have to say I understand road rage a bit more, we got stuck at this ridiculous junction for about fifteen mins, then when we got near the lights we had to sit and look at them on green coz some idiots had pulled into the middle of the junction but couldn't move 'til their lights went to green. Was almost late for my hospital appointment coz of it. Was tempted to get out of the car and go and shout at them but resisted as I am a pacifist...honest!
Excited for going away for the weekend, we always have such a great time. Wont be about at all at the weekend, we tend to make an internet embargo when we're there as it's more peaceful and we're too busy chatting and having a laugh and going for looooong walks in the countryside (even in this weather!). I suppose it's a very OS break really, especially with me taking HM biscuits and cake and lasagne.
Right, looooooooong post over, have a great weekend everyone. *huggles* to all who want/need them and extra *huggles* to cover my absence this weekend :beer:0
