OS Daily Friday 28th November 2008

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 28rd of November. It is is an ‘over the garden fence’ type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome; please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start does just as well.

Morning.

It's Friday! I am day off, so no work today. I have to get my car from work though as I left it there last night after we went for drinks. We managed to get our tree decorated after it was delayed due to work stuff, then it was all down to Wetherspoons for a drink and curry night.

MOT today on my car. I hate MOT's as they can be costly, the only benefit is that any dangerous things are pointed out. Then it's off to Tesco, I think to get the Christmas goodies and weekly shop. I have several vouchers to use up, so we will be looking for a bargain.

Not much else going on... I will have to call AOL today and found out why they have charged me for my monthly broadband when they offered me 3 free months.

Cheers folks

Good morning N9EAV and all who follow.

Just a quickie from me because I must go and have a shower before work (the last day of my stint covering for a staff member). It was really busy yesterday so I'm glad it's nearly over. The practice I've been working in is in a run-down shop on a run-down parade on a run-down housing estate and we've just heard that they're pulling the whole parade of shops down next year, so my boss has to decide what to do next. He deserves a state-of-the-art surgery really but I don't know if that will be possible. I'm hoping the local authority will find somewhere else for him locally or that will be another NHS dentist gone. I'm glad I'm not going back there permanently because I'd be worrying about losing the job next year.

Dinner tonight is not in the least bit OS; DH has decided we're having fish and chips from the chippie, but it only works out at about £5 for two of us. Our local chippie gives you way too many chips so we always have the 'pensioner's' serving. I know I could get three meals out of a fiver but, as DH said, you have to have a treat now and again!

Not much OSing getting done this week because of work but I shall be getting stuck in next week.

(((Hugs))) to all in need and good luck to Soapy when it does happen - which it will, of that there's no doubt!

    Will catch up later.

    Morning all,

Its my dd's (Ruby) birthday today she is 14  , I got her up a bit early and she is having cheese on toast, (her fav) orange juice and kiwi, she will then open a few presents, but keep most of them till she gets home tonight, we are also going to be naughty tonight and having a chineese takeaway (Ruby's choice :D ) so no cooking for me tonight, it honestly feels like yesterday when I bought her home and now 14 years have gone by  .

OS wise today, I will swish and swipe before work, and put a wash on when I get back, will run the hoover around tonight and that will be about it.

Off to work today, but finish at 2 so not too bad, then four days off :T

Hugs where needed, have good days all xx
  • Morning all
Off to work soon, I think I'll treat hubby to fish & chips tonight out of the £45 I made yesterday, 1 large cod & chips is £8, but enough for both of us.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,
Must get DH to take me to PO and claim for a lost parcel I posted to my DM for her B/day on 25th Oct. then it's off to Drs. for our innoculations in readiness for our 1 month cruise/stay in China, Japan and S.Korea in Feb.

Will pop to Aldi as we would like to try one of those Duck inside a chicken inside a turkey joints for £9.99, then into Morries for the £11 Gordons gin for xmas, hope it doesn't evaporate before then. Will lookout for the 50p offers.

DH wants to cook bubble and squeek with gamon for dinner followed by stewed plumbs and yougurt. hhmmmm.

DD wants us to go to Myaka tomorrow as there is a clearance sale on. I'm looking forward to getting out as I'm going stir crazy doing nothing.

Hope today is a kind one for all.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS RUBY_party_
  • Morning all,

a real quick one as I must get up & moving!

Betheebee, I thought those bird in a bird's looked tasty but we don't have an Aldi near us. I'll have to see if there's one when I'm out on my travels during the day.
Jet77 - good for you, I'm sure you'll feel much happier!!!!
    Happy Birthday Miss Ruby :)

OS wise, will get WM on a minute so oldest DD can hang stuff on the airer. Porridge for brekkie in a minute (with brown sugar of course), will take some soup for lunch and we might have fish & chips for supper too.

However that depends on money as just checked my online banking & my wages are not in my account..... :( This happened a couple of times a couple of years ago when the company was small & using external accountants and they missed the deadline, but since then it's been done in-house & no problems, so not sure what is going on.. Great.

Diva not up early today?? And MrsMix hope you are feeling better now, not seen you for a while. All those MIA hope you're ok - missing you. (((((hugs)))))) for all the poorlies.

    xx

    Morning :hello:

It's mr troo's day off today, instead of roaming the countryside looking for farm shops (like we usually do, lol) we're staying local. We're going into town, there's a farmer's market in the centre every friday. We go every now and then and it's great. The highlight for mr troo is the olives :D I've just realised that the other markets sell crafts, but no-one at Glos does............  :D

I'll nip down to Tim's shop, hopefully some of my cards have sold 51.gif lol.

I want to visit our friends today too, their baby is due in 6 days so it's probably the last time we'll have uninterrupted conversation with them :D

I want to pick up a book on keeping chickens, I've read everything I can find on the internet but want to make sure I know what I'm doing.

We'll be out for most of the day, so no 'around the house' OSing here.
Oooh look at the date, I haven't bought the advent calendars yet

  • Good Morning All

    Happy Birthday Miss Ruby.

Horrible and wet here today and very mild, would rather it was crisp and cold.

Have DD at home as she has a non pupil day. She wants to go out for lunch but we are saving money so she will be mooching around the house all day.

Plans are - some housework this morning, stardrops and vinegar of course. Between 10am and 11am will do some ebaying then 1 hour in the office followed by ironing.

We are lucky in our village that we have a nice little convenience store, well today they move into a posh brand new store a couple of doors away which is like a proper shop. One of the staff said they are going to have bogofs and everything. They are dearer than tescos and asda but the convenience is worth it so will have a look down there later.

Off for a quick surf now, have a great day.
