Not liking this wacky winter weather.
2-3" of snow which fell so fast that I called my GF at work to suggest she left early to avoid delays, followed by a single bolt of lightning and thunderclap, followed by torrential rain, followed by hail, back to rain...
On the plus side, I was only in the office for about 5 hours today and tomorrow is my last day before the holidays!0 -
Five hours and twenty minutes 'til my holiday starts!
Just ordered a copy of 'The Richest Man in Babylon' as a Christmas treat for myself. At £3.45 new (including delivery) I think Amazon was a better bet than trying to track it down second hand. I Think that's the lowest price I've ever paid for a new book? Hopefully it will arrive by the New Year and prove useful when I'm writing up my resolutions for next year (one of which is to read at least one useful book a month!) Go go self improvement...0 -
I'm on holiday (left a little early). Queue comedy edinburgher scenes as he tried to avoid seeing his bosses' bosses' boss on the way out the door
One of my New Years' resolutions will be less (or no) skivingI know that nobody likes a whinger, but it's been a tough year..

We had a cracking Christmas and managed to avoid some of the snow and ice (apart from going for a couple of beautiful walks in the country park near to where my GF's parents stay). Christmas was warm and relaxing (indoors) and I managed to catch up with the family.
Please to report that the GF was very pleased with her haul and nobody got anything they hated (there were a few amusing incidents with her big sister moaning about things last year!)
I ended up with a couple of new sweaters, some cool T-shirts from a London company I like that do funky anime-inspired stuff, my own copy of the world's best food encyclopaedia/cookbook and a huge stack of CDs which I'm just about to load into iTunesI also picked up some wonderfully eccentric foodie gifts including a salad spinner, piping bag, smoked sea salt and a wild boar salami :rotfl:
We felt moderately guilty as GF's sister spent twice as much as everyone else (including her parents, who own their own home). Still - it's her choice and I'm informed that she goes nuts every Christmas.
I'm now back in London, chillaxing and am currently cooking our festive ham. Don't get paid 'til the 31st, so my new diary and sale shopping will have to wait 'til then. We're going to see 'Twelfth Night' in the West End on Hogmany and will then be coming back to the bottle of champers lurking in the fridge and a seafood banquet (courtesy of the £55 worth of M&S vouchers we accumulated this Christmas)...
Hope everybody had a good one _party_0 -
Morning stranger
glad to hear you two had a good one.
Some people always go mad at Christmas and like you say their choice so nothing to feel guilty about.
Looking forward to your new diaryProud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712

Hi Ed. Glad Christmas went well and nice prezzies!
R.E. BingoBritain: when I was telling you about it, I said that you needed to 'top up' whatever you've won to £20. I've just remembered that you can't top up random amounts e.g. £7.32, you have to import money in £5. £10 and £20, so keep a spare £20 in your account to make the most of it.
Happy New Year and I need a bottle of reasonably priced fizz for the celebrations I will be attending. C'mon foodie, whaddya recommend (not too dry)? Please call me 'Pickle'

I never said I was a sommelier! Still - if you fancy some reasonably priced not massively dry fizz, either Sainsbury's or Asda's 'finest' type pink cavas are pretty good for the cost...0
