Can Edinburgher be debt free and a mortgage holder by 30?

Gah! Why is the last day before you go on holiday always ridiculously busy at work? Only a few hours to go now and I think I've got everything in hand ready before passing it back to my boss for the week.
Have ended up sans savings after a wardrobe malfunction (I didn't have enough socks for a week away) which has left me questioning the wisdom of not having a clothes budget! While paying off debt is all well and good, I'm feeling a bit like my quality of life is suffering as a result. I've only bought a pair of shoes, a pair of jeans and a Primark T-shirt since the start of the year
Starting to think that I need to re-introduce a clothes budget, savings and other sensible things to my budget come the new year. In the grand scheme of things my debts aren't that bad, they're interest free, my default isn't going anywhere 'til 2012 and I don't need to keep obsessing about them, right? I think the DFW forum actually makes me worse in this respect, as opposed to being the useful repository of suggestions and advice that it's intended as!
Need to start moving towards living life for me, not the bank. Hopefully the trip will be a good chance to sort out my priorities (GF has started prodding me over saving for a house deposit etc.!)0 -
Evening Ed, probably won't get to chat to you before you go so hope you both have a fab time.
I wouldn't blame you for bringing in a little clothes etc budget as your debts are at a reasonable level now and interest free.Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712

Other than that it's all good - the sun is out and we're off on holiday on Tuesday coming.

Hey you!
I just got back from Bavaria where we spent the last week. Still somewhat exhausted from travelling, but will tell of the terror of traditional German weddings some time tomorrow!0 -

Don't you hate it when you get back to work from a holiday and you feel like you need another holiday to get over it?
Busy morning tidying up loose ends and getting back into some more detailed work now. I have my mid year review tomorrow, so fingers crossed everything is still on track. One thing I like about the CS is the fact that bosses are encouraged to be straight with you re. problems etc. - none of the crap you get in the private sector where line managers say one thing to your face but then trash you on paper!
Somewhat worried to see that my Dooyoo miles total is 0!! Wonder if there's a fault with the site?0 -
Evening Ed how the devil are you? Post holiday blues are horrible aren't they. It seems to take me only a couple of hours of being back at work before my time off is forgotton.
My dooyoo total is 0 too :eek:Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712
