hello all moneysavers.
I aint posted in quite a wile but after reading this thread i just had to get my 2p in.
I personally have debts. Yep i was stupid all my own fault I asked the banks for the money, I spent it.
And now im paying it back little by little. as the months go on its getting better debts are going lower.
anyway to my point.
If you lend the money pay it back as simple as that. yes it would be nice to be able to get out of the debt. But as a adult one of the rules of life you should learn is to own up to your responceabilitys.
I can understand why people are trying to find the easy way out when it seems like the only option. If this is the case You realy need debt advice contact CCCS or payplan.0 -
ok ok your forgiven !!!! still too young for me though

Ive had a credit card for over ten years. i have always paid at least my minimum payments. i have even cleared off £10k to zero it 5 years ago, sadly only to build it back up £8k. Now whats happened to me is that for the last 3 years I've only paid the min payment. then last year I was 5 days late with a payment. They immediately put my interest rate up to 34% and lowered my limit to just £20 over what I owed. Since then I have been paying over £250 a month and reducing my balance by just £8 to £11 pounds each month.
I have discovered this is common practice by the institutions with people in similar circumstances to mine. They simply have made a decision that I am not going to spend any more and the debt still owing will take years to pay off coupled with the fact they have already been paid back everything I have spent overall with some interest, their best action is to sell my debt to a DCA. To enable them to do this tI have to default. This is why they up the interest rate and lower the limit. Once Ive defaulted they sell to a DCA for a tidy profit. Leaving me owing even more! This us happening to many people who - like me - have never defaulted. They just toss us aside as I've paid more than we have spent and are obviously not going to continue to spend and pay it all off each month.
Over the years I have spent £19.5k and paid back £22.5k So in asking for a true copy of my CCA I am not ripping off the company but doing it as a last attempt at stopping them ripping me off.
I must stress I am only doing this to save me being forced in to default and being sold to a DCA by greedy financial institutions.
Go on then shoot me, it cant make me feel any lower than I already am.
But for all of those reading this who have a few grand owing on an old card and have been making minimum payments for a while, be warned... one wrong move and they will put the above into action to cash in and sell you on to pond life. A CCA request is the last resort weapon against their unfair greediness not a get out clause.0 -
:j Could this be true... What I know is some banks will waiver the annual fee and will lower the amount of what you need to pay for, I think they will just charge you the actual amount of what you did use less the interest and then they will cut you off.. Hmmmm. I am paying my credit cards for some time and haven't been using them. I am nearly done paying them off....:beer:0

You are so right, you have hit the nail on the head...unfortunately you will come up against a group of "nay-Sayers" on here that will try and defend their actions with patter that does not withstand.
They would sharp change their tune if the bank chose not to allow them access to their hard-earned wages at the end of the month, if my business was screwed by its customers over a lame, cowardly technicality like discussed above and it hit me financially, I would pursue them to court and try my best to destroy them in every way possible, I borrow from my Bank and credit cards et al, I repay them every month, if I live beyond my means then that is my fault...not the banks.
Thank again for the post, lets just hope the naive followers of the "digital bandwagon on here learn a lesson in financial life.
