Does anyone have any info about credit card debts being written off if they were taken out before April 2007? There is a link on Google to this site but the post appears to have been removed.
Thanks0 -
forgetting the morality of this practice i have to say i would have to be very desperate to do this, surely if you are having x amount of debt wiped out that you owed a company that company will never lend to you again ?, bearing in mind that a lot of the banks are now owned by the same people then surely future mortgage/loan/insurance deals would not be avaliable to you ???.
has anyone on here actually known this procedure to have worked ? i really am fascinated.

Unenforceable agreements are as old as the Consumer Credit Act itself. The only thing different is that we now have a new breed of ambulance chasing conmen who have jumped on the latest bandwagon, trying to con desperate people out of money they haven't got.by making them believe that ALL their credit agreements are faulty.
I see your point about the conmen, but what im really asking is, (using Halifax as an example) if i had 5k on a Halifax credit card and it was unenforceable, i then used the right to not pay the money back surely Halifax would never lend me money again?. Seeing as Halifax is in the same bed as Bank of Scotland,Lloyds, and TSB then future borrowing would surely be badly affected?0 -
....They broke the law lending the money????? !!!!!! are you for real? YOU ASKED THEM FOR A FAKIN LINE OF CREDIT, THEY TRUSTED YOU WITH IT AND NOW YOU DONT WANT TO PAY IT BACK? Get a proper job and stop stiring up trouble on here with deluded scams that are, if successful, going to contribute to the poor state of the resecsion that we are currently in, selfish, greedy b@stard!

UKTYLER, I am happy you are doing well for yourself and hope you make the best of this downturn.
but I beg to differ in that yes our card rates are going up, mine went from 14.9% to 29.9%, until i called them and they pegged it to 18.9%.
it may apply to us in a small way when we remortgage by way of higher charges and "mark to base rate" tracker mortgages.
yes, I still get high limits on new cards(last one was £11000 in september) and also get repeat BT offers at 0%(this month). I still get automatic increase in credit limits(last one from £12000 to £16500 in october)
Ok, the days of 0% BT with £50 max transfer fee are over but then that was the party time which was thanks to people who borrowed recklessly!!
So you don't believe we are paying for others, but your card rates have gone up, 0% BT's are going and your mortgage has gone up?
Sounds to me like you are paying.
For the average person in the street they WILL end up paying, especially as more people default. Already mortgages have gone up, and as you have seen card rates are going up.
Its OK for you, you can move money around to get better rates, but what about those whose credit rating is not as good?
It is not only the reckless that are going to pay for this, already our government has bailed out the banks, we are going to pay for that too.
The financially savvy may not suffer yet, but the majority will.
(By the way I use we, when I really mean the majority of the people in the UK, and not me, but if I used you it would get too confusing!)0 -
