Could I be pregnant????

Hi everyone
Was just wondering if I could pick your brains!!
I have been taking Dianette for a number of years and my Doctor advised me to change pills. I then changed to a different pill but began to have very bad migraines (which I had never experianced before). I went back to my doctors and he said that I should take a break from the pill.
I came off my pill and had a normal period.
Then this month I was 10 days late on my period so decided to do a home pregnancy test. It came up positive but was very faint (I looked at the instructions and this was still considered a positive result). The day after I decided to take another one in case the first was void again I got a faint positive. This cofused me even more.
Then last night I came on my period.
So could I be pregnant???
I'm confused

Heya, well I always thought that you could never get a fake positive?! best get your self to the doctors - congrats if thats what you want
xXx0 -
It is possible, it happened to my friend, she now has a six month old baby girl, You dont really get a false positive only a false negative. So I would say see how your period goes, I had a slight period just as I got pregnant this time and I am 20 weeks today.
Wait until after your period has come to an end and do another test. Then if its positive go and see your GP. Were both of the tests out of the same packet? If so I guess there is more of a chance of them being wrong, but if not then I wouldnt say so. You may also be experiencing an implantation bleed I think your at about the right stage for this to happen.
Good Luck I hope you get the results you want!

Hi Oliversmummy,
if a pregnancy test comes up positive it means that there's a fertilised egg there as that's the only way to get the hormones that make the positive line!
However many many fertilised eggs don't implant and miscarry without a woman even realising she is pregnant.
It might be an idea to just pop and see your Dr and explain what has happened. They might want to do some blood tests to check if the pregnancy has gone or not.
Sometimes a bit of bleeding doesn't necessarily mean you have miscarried so you need to be checked.
Big hugs because it's horrible not knowing what is going on.

sounds like you were def pregnant and then may have miscarried or just had a little bleeding which is common during pregnancy0
-
sounds like either you were pg then miscarred OR are still pg but are just bleeding which can also happen.I think you need to see your gp.0

Don't mean to sound silly but if I was having a miscarriage wouldn't I Know??? I mean wouldn't I be in pain????
It is quite a heavy period I'm having at the moment so no spotting.
The two tests were from the same box so maybe void????
I have bought a digital pregnancy test for after my period so it will give me a yes or no answer and stop the confusion.Women are like teabags. We don't know our true strength until we are in hot water! :grinheart0 -
the tests are not void. Get that idea out of your head. As the OP above has said you do not get false positives, only false negatives.
I have no experience of miscarriage or implantation bleeds, but could this be an implantation bleed? Call NHS direct for advice or go to your dr though to be sure either way x0 -
id suggest ringing NHS direct, they will be able to advise you. generally you dont get a false positive, and its very very rare to get 2!
i think you need to get checked over, just in case you are miscarrying (i hope not) as you can end up with complications, and if you are still pregnant, you will need close monitoring xxx0 -
I believe there is no such thing as a false positive in pregnancy tests only a false negative.
You were pregnant IMO. If your period is heavy you may well be having an early miscarriage. The pregnany test works by detecting a hormone produced only in pregnancy HCG - if this level was very low the line may well be faint and that may be why the miscarriage occurred. No you would not necessarily know you were having a miscarriage. It is apparently surprisingly common and I bet we can all think of times when we have been very late (eg 6 weeks) having not taken adequate precautions. I can think of at least once.
Go to your GP to see if you are still pregnant. If this is heavy, though, you probably aren't, but it is as well to have a check up. Won't see this thread around for long!0 -

No you wouldn't be in pain. If the pregnancy was only there for a few days and possibly not even implanted the lining of the womb wouldn't be much different at all. We're only talking about a tiny cluster of cells not even visible to the naked eye.
The digital pregnancy test sounds a good idea. If it comes up negative and all seems normal then you should be fine.
Just remember to take precautions until you have your pill sorted out, unless you want to be pregnant. Otherwise this could be happening all over again but maybe without the bleeding!!
