Hi KK pleased to hear you've got an appointment early in the year so hopefully will know more after you see the consultant.
Let them know you are claiming for DLA so they are aware of any forms that may be arriving ;) When you get your report from them copy it and send it off with your little ones SSecurity number on it so they can add it to your file.I do this with everything or I tend to lose stuff :o

When you say Kyphosis, has she a forward facing curve (so she is bent over forward) or Scoliosis which is an 's' shape sideways curve? Just asking as I think the treatments are different slightly if its a Kyphosis.
  • It could be she has both kyphosis and scoliosis but the scoliosis is the problem at the minute? It could be scoliosis curve fusion as I can't see them fusing a kyphosis curve so young because of the chest area needing to grow for the adult lungs when she;s older.

On your dla forms you could have compared her to a child of her same age and the amount of times she falls and stumbles where a different child the same age wouldn't be having these kinds of problems.

Hope all goes well at the hosp appointment :)

    Hey,
She has both however they are only concerned at the moment with scholiosis. everything is growing properly but her back is slanting to the right a lot worse now. Will keep updated withwhat the hospital says.

Still no news on her claim for DLA (Been 8 Weeks Already).

    Kind Regards

It can take approx thirteen weeks. Possibly best to stop calling them, as your calls are taking them away from processing claims. They will be in touch when they have any news.
    Gone ... or have I?

    Hi,

Sorry if it seems like i am bumping this thread, I have asked for a reconsideration just after posting last time, They turned my DD down again. We have been awaiting for an appeal date, I was wondering how long on average you have to wait? we know it is going to be in cardiff but do not know when or where. We have been waiting for 5 weeks now. Any idea's would be great?

    Thankyou

I hope my experience with claiming DLA will be some help.

I applied for DLA in Mar 2006, was initially turned down, asked for a reconsideration but was turned down again.

I decided to appeal & my tribunal was held in Oct 2006 unfortunately I lost.

I applied for a statement of reasons & asked for permission to appeal against the tribunals decision, I was refused in Jan 2007.

I then applied to the Commisioner for leave to appeal & was finally granted permission.

My tribunal was held in Mar 2008 & I finally won, 2 years after I applied for DLA.

In my experience I think you should fight for what you believe in even though it's very stressful on top of everything else you have to deal with, I did & I won.

    Goodluck.
I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

    Hi,
Im currently in the process of getting my DLA decision reconsidered. Has it taken six months to get a decision? I noticed it was January at time of last post? I was quoted 11 weeks but Im wondering if that is just a estimate?
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
