called up dwp for irc62979 and passed all checks. Placed around 60+ on the list. is that good or bad?0
-
It doesn't matter if you're placed 60th, or 460th. Some people who were apparently number 400 on this so-called "list" have already started training for the roles. There are MANY others who have yet to hear anything...myself included.0

Are u still awaiting CRB etc?
Just going to have to wait at least until January. If I don't hear by then, then I would have no other option but to forget about this job!
Also, does anybody know that as this is a 12 month contract (originally 18 months), does your contract end 12 months from your start date or does it end 11/2010 regardless of start date? I have read for other IRC's that people have been given start dates for Jan and Feb next year and their contract still ends Nov.0 -
21Twinkle is correct. I have just received this email from DWP that basically states that they are recruiting throughout December. However, they are over-subscribed and the remaining successful candidates will be contacted in January about the NEXT STEP. Not necessarily about a start date!
Thank you for your email dated 14th December 2009
With regards to recent Jobcentre Plus recruitment, I should explain that it was initially anticipated that Jobcentre Plus would be in a position to offer posts to all candidates successfully completing pre recruitment checks for these selection exercises. However the advertised Recruitment opportunities within Jobcentre plus have generated extraordinary levels of interest and applications. Whilst recruitment activity has not ceased, the significant number of successful applications for these posts, as well as the size and complexity of locations and positions available, has necessitated a full review of Jobcentre Plus's staffing position and has resulted in delays in contacting candidates to offer start dates.
Jobcentre Plus have confirmed that they are in a recruiting position until the end of December and they will contact candidates during that time if they are able to offer a post. Otherwise we are assured that they will contact all remaining candidates in January 2010 to advise what action they are taking.
I can however confirm that your pre recruitment checks are complete
I should explain that although Employee Services Resourcing administer selection activity on behalf of Jobcentre Plus, any offer of employment will be made by the local business area and I am therefore unable advise as to the likelihood of your receiving a start date for any particular exercise before January.
I appreciate that this is a difficult time for anyone awaiting a start date, and would like to thank you for your patience. Once again I regret that I am unable to provide more specific timescales and can only reiterate that should Jobcentre Plus be in a position to offer you a position, you will be contacted immediately.
In the meantime should you wish to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact me.0 -
has anyone heard from irc63183. I am awaiting a start date and have been told the same thing about december / january.0

Had the EO post interview today for posts in the Liverpool area.
The literacy and numeracy tests were relatively simple although surprisingly most people failed them! If you are doing the numeracy test revise making calculations about ratios and percentages ...really easy but remind yourself !! The rest is just referencing different charts of numbers. Our particular example was about computers and seats available in a building. Eg. How many people can use the computers in all the rooms available between 5-10pm if the Library is closed? If there is a tough one that required lots of calculations eg. which of these is false? ...move on and do it later cos time is limited.
Remember you only need to get 10 on 20 to pass...so just make sure u get 10 done and then go back to the long winded ones! Lots of ppl including me didn't finish it. I got 17 on 17 but guessed the last three incorrectly ;-)
For the literacy tests it is mostly simple spelling errors but the pass mark on this is 11 on 15 so not much margin for error. The passage you read is about a memo or something similar and you have 8 mins to find and circle the errors. There are mistakes such as THEIR and THERE or ARE and IS. etc
The interview is strange if you've never done a competency one before. I think internal candidates have a great advantage as they are aware of what's coming. I don't believe it identifies much other than who has prepared longest for it. You are not asked anything else about your life or experience.
The questions I had were almost direct questions about the competencies. I found it difficult as I was continually asked other questions which sent me on different tracks whilst I was attempting to link the examples to the competencies. I thought that was what you were supposed to do!! Some of the prompting i presume was to clarify a competency ...I hope!! ...but other questions I wasn't sure if I was being led towards a competency or not. And it made me forget key things I had prepared to link to a competency!!!!
I prepared examples under the STAR system, but I got rushed every time I was halfway through explaining the S and the T. So it didn't run smoothly.
The questions were basically - :
Tell us a time when you have led in a team (Leading)
Tell us a time when you identified a risk and acted upon it (i think) (managing people and performance).
Tell us about a time you delivered a professional service
Tell us about a time you delivered a customer focused service
I can't remember the exact words but that was the questions. Good luck all of you and thanks for your help. :rotfl:0 -

I received my crb certificate on the 1st of december.0 -
Regarding the length of contract on IRC62979.
I had the call last Monday to say that I would be starting on the 4th Jan, the contract is only until the 30th Nov 2010. So it is looking like that is the same all round.

It was dated 29th november but still nothing. i've called them 3 times and it seems my merit postion has changed from 52 to 62 to now a pitiful 83. my checks are still ongoing so i doubt i'm gonna hear anything from them. I'm so angry with the dwp right now. I'm struggling to understand why the people resposnible for managing employment in the UK have the most atrocious recruitment process. what a farce!
Plus after reading some of the previous posts i have now accepted that i'm probably never gonna get this job. I just regret that it has consumed so much of my time, energy and thoughts. The dwp havea knack of leading people on, given you a false sense of security to cover up their short comings and utter incompetence.
what moron would tell 600 people they have a job when you only have the capacity to hire 100, a 5 year old could tell you something was wrong!!!
ok rant over, i feel much better now.0 -
Hi I'm new on here. Have been following this message board since I applied for AO. I got my successful letter on the 18th Nov, then got my disclosure scotland back a few weeks ago. I hadnt heard anything else so I phoned them today. All of my checks have been completed but I'm on a waiting list now. There are 637 on the list, its in numerical order. I'm 76th on the waiting list, I got 30 for the interview. I have been told all I can do is wait. I am almost on stage 3 at the Jobcentre now, I was relying on this job :-(0
