Just found this thread today. Wondering if anyone has heard from the interviews that took place in the Thistle Hotel, Glasgow on 1 Oct. This was for the extended hours pilot in Glasgow which are due to start 9th November. I did the lit/num tests, got the results and straight into interview after that. They also did the disclosure and i.d. checks on the day.
I received a letter a couple of weeks later to state that they were conducting the reference checks. What should I expect next? Does this mean they will offer me a position or would they only offer a position after doing previous employer checks etc.
    Sorry for so many questions!

The letter you recvd, did it state you'd been successful? As far as I know no-one's been offered a start date yet.

Yeah, letter said I had been successful. They also have emailed and called my references due to the postal strike but I still haven't heard anything else.

As far as I know the checks are ongoing and when tehy're completed someone will be in touch with you to offer you a start date (provided you pass all the checks). Shouldn't be long now.
  • Hi,

I went through an assessment day for the AO position yesterday. It was held in London, i passed the literacy and numeracy tests and after completing various forms i had my interview, which i feel went really well.

I just wanted to know how long it takes before they let you know if you've been successful? Also roughly how long is the overall process from interview to starting the job?

    Thank you

How right you were! Received phone call last night, got the job:D
    Start Monday!
  • Hi Nadina1
I had been for an AO interview 23rd OCT and they said it would be 6 weeks to get to know if I was successful. Some people in this forum have been waiting for a long time (6months -12months).Some shorter than that so it depends on how quickly the business needs to fill the post I guess.A friend of mine waited for year and a half before she got posted.
Which IRC was this that you applied for?

Hey!! Congrats!!!! See you there ;)
  • Thanks aquababe. :-( I'm really disheartened now, from what you've said and what i've read on here, this job seems like a major hassle. I'm starting to doubt whether its even worth the wait but what i don't understand is why they bother advertising and interviewing people, if they already have so many people available to hire. What an incredible waste of everyone's time!
I think it's 62979, is that the same one you applied for?
  • I also applied for IRC 62979. I had my interview on the 23rd at Paddington. They said to give them a call after 4 weeks, so, that means next friday.

I had my interview for that role on the 23rd at West Ham.

Called yesterday out of curiosity, spoke to a really nice guy, very informative.

Told me i had passed the interview, and asked if i was sitting down?

He told me, (although he said he shouldn't) i was 3rd on the list......he expanded on that by saying i was actually joint 1st, but as my surname begins with 'W' it ranks that way....this was out of a 4 figure number he told me.?

    Very pleased with that!

My CRB went away to Scotland on the 6th November.

He also said in regards to references that HMRC are assisting and as such work history checks are made simple as they enter an NI number and confirms your work history at a glance by checking your contributions etc.

So looking good, very pleased to have some positive news in run up to xmas.
