  • Well with my on going battle not to spend money if i don't need to - especially not lining the pockets of the evil electricity fat cat bosses pockets I came across this on the Eon web page - will help me loads I to think about the cost as I go:

    1 boil of a kettle 2p
    1 use of a 4 slice toaster 1p
1 hour use of a LCD Tv 3p
1 hour use of a set top box 1p
    1 Min use of a microwave 1p
    1 hour use of a Wii 1p
    1 hour use of a laptop 1p
    1 bath 10p
    1 10 min Shower 5p
    1 hour hoovering 16p
    30mins use of a hairdryer 13p
20 mins use of straightners 2p
    1 cycle 30 deg wash 14p
    1 hour ironing 30p
1 hr energy saving lightbulb 1p
1 cooked meal in elec oven 11p
1 electric hob used to cook 10p

and it seems to work out when i look at what i use in a typical day vs my bill - will see if this helps

Not sure if you have seen a response I posted earlier on the Utilities Board, determinedtodothis. If not, I have put the link below (post 27).

in the true spirt of MSE I will have to give up the ironing, the hoovering and the washing. I don't like ironing...but now I see it cost me £1.50 per week (5 hours) I won't be doing it. I hate to think how much my tumble dryer is costing me! My OH moved it into the garage so I can't use it...tight git...I'm not walking outside in the rain to get wet to put the clothes into the tumble dryer, I'd have to use the hairdryer then...more money!

    Thanks for the support guys!

Washer - great minds think a like!! i have happily ignored the ironing all weekend :D

Little Miss Uni Debt - WOW when you look at it like that i'm even more proud of myself!! although I have to admit some of my debt was paid off with PPI refunds etc..

Tryinghard - thank you very much for your support - sometimes its a bit of a boring thread as I just post up my balances but thanks for becoming a fan! I will find your thread and we can both gee each other on :D

I think is is clear that I am not going to meet my NSD target this month so I need to do a last push to get as many as I can under my belt between now and the end of month.

I've run out of credit on my phone but I have just got a text saying I have 300 free text messages as of yesterday :D so between that and my BT tarrif if I avoid calling mobiles I should be able to get through till pay day.

  • Well I tried to get the electricity usage down over the weekend and got it to about £2.22 a day which is a 20pence saving a day (all adds up!)

I did my online (had a voucher!) shop for Tesco's and thats coming next tuesday came in dead on £40 so I just hope I haven't forgotten anything!

Dooyoo is confusing me at the moment - I can see I've had people rate my reviews but the balance of my account seems to not be changing - going to have to watch that.

Had to use the phone this weekend so phone bill is a bit annoying but if i'm clever I reckon I can keep it from being any higher! Did manage another NSD on the plus side so thats nine - still disappointed with my acheivement I've had a bit of emotional spending though (mainly chocolate and magazines) so going over to the demotivator to remind myself the evils of feeling sorry for myself and trying to buy happiness

:mad::mad: very annoyed all my points have disappeared from dooyoo, although it looks like quite few people are in the same boat. I hope they rectify it soon because I was going to use that money for xmas presents!

Another NSD under my belt :D

And i've paid some more of the debt so i'm feeling happy today, i was getting a bit depressed this week, the cupboards and fridge are empty and I went into hiding incase I got invited out because thats when I think "what the hell" have a good night but spend money I don't have.

I have managed to get my contents insurances renewed for £2.22 less a month - not a lot but thats £26.64 a year right?!

I have also tweaked my figures and I reckon my shopping budget is going so well i'm going to be able to pay an extra £240 a year to my debts no problem and that brings my debt free date down by 8 years by the looks
