  • well caved and checked account! Despite the extra money am still o/d so have decided to catch up with myself and pay the o/d off. Financialy its not the best thing to do as I get interest free 250 but emotionally I find it quite stressful having an o/d so will pay that off on payday and hopefully then be sorted to go with avengance from Feb pay day...just want to start in the right foot, despite knowing that its not the best financial decision!!
well done others! Congrats on getting married susie! hugs those who are feeling like they are off to a slow start...just keep plodding!!

Including Income Tax and VAT my debt will come to about 20,000K + interest

Therefore, better get my ar*e in gear and start getting it all cleared off.

I have already paid £1300 this month to the HMRC and £1100 to VAT.
With £200 today to MBNA thats a total of £3500.

Therefore just another £16,400 to go!!!:o

I have to keep a mantra in my head that goes something like:

"This is not forever, this is not forever...."

Sadly, the VAT and the tax is a cyclical thing. The skill will be having the money put away for when its due rather than incurring loads of interest and surcharges!!! Once i have played catch-up I swear I will not let this happen again. The stress is just yukky!:naughty:

Hi guys - I have paid £100 to my Egg loan today, bringing my total paid to just over £3000 for this challenge, or 10%...........

I don't think there will be any more paid until the next direct debit comes out - january is a loooong skint month :o

I set up a standing order for my husband, as he is crap with money and tax. It takes a percentage of his income out of his bank account automatically every month and puts it into a savings account. He is in fact SO crap that when it came to tax time he started panicking, saying he didn't have any money to pay.... until I reminded him he had been putting money aside for a year :rotfl:. So I reccommend this way. Have the money go out the moment you get paid and then you don't miss it. And put the details of the savings account somewhere really awkward to get to so you don't go taking money out!

    Thanks Sarah

My problem is that my money comes in intermittently. One month i can receive a chunk, then nothing for 2 months or so. With always playing catch-up I have my usual domestic DD's set up but am always scared of setting up other regular payments in case i have not received anything yet.

I am getting better but the not knowing if and when my money will come in is a pain in the posterior. Much of it comes from central and local government who are notoriously slow at paying invoices.

I will get there, and i may set one up and put in a regular smaller sum just so its not such a shock when i have to fork it all out.
