    Debt-free and Proud!
Hi guys..I have not posted for ages (months) but had another light bulb twinge as I now want to increase our savings cushion and bring down our mortgage debt.

But saw that people were posting saying what happened to everyone. I basically got a new well paid job at beginning of year which amazingly paid me quite a lot in bonuses around the middle of the year and so I paid off all my loan and CC debts..quite a moment for the household I can tell you - but one I was a bit embarrassed about (given that there is a recession on etc etc) so didn't feel like going public..anyway thats the story. Thanks for all the support guys and best of luck with your challenges.

Well got the letter from the loan company with settlement figure - so now have their details to send payment. That will be sent off on Monday so that will be my 100% 'official' debt free day... then moving house on the friday afterwards so it will be a new start totally debt free... yay....

... oh, and as a little "debt free" treat to myself i brought some front row tickets to the F1 at Silverstone in July.... yay!

Keep those numbers coming... everyone is doing soooo well!

I hope no-one minds but I am going to do a "double declaration" - I am going to declare to 31 December 2009 as total
    £21,074 paid off (capital)!

Very happy with this total - hope everyone else is still going well and joining up to Hypnos new challenge!

Well done Mel - a fab amount.
  • Have been a bit rubbish at updating but have got to the end of the year and have paid off just a shade over £8000 - so count me in for that

Not as much as I originally planned but this is the first year that I have actually started the year owing less! My debt is below £90k for the first time in a long time and I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel - only 18 mths left on one major loan which will really free up the cash

Thanks all and have a very happy Christmas and New Year
