OK. I've just made a payment to Virgin for £242.81 to bring this year's total to:

    £7,000 paid off

Which I'm quite happy with. We did spend £1k on a bedroom refurb though so that would have taken a chunk out. I've signed up to next year's challenge for another £10k, which I'm really going to try and reach this time. Full steam ahead!

Feeling bad as kind of lost my way a bit on this challange although it does feel good to tally things up and work out what i paid this year.

I have paid £2440 of my £9000 target this include catalougue, loan, overdraft and credit card.
This pales in comparision to other large amounts everyone else has paid off im amazed how much people paid off, hyno you nearly there!

Its been a hard year but a good year for us as a family had my 2nd child in spetember so had added baby expenses but breastfeeding and using cloth so money saving there.
My toddler turned 3 this year so started preschool so childcare costs have dropped.

At the moment only husband is working , hes lost out on bonus this year so not done too well paying off his debts.

But as a couple we done lots throughout year and think we manage our money a lot better these days and keeping our head above water.

I have engaged in mystery shops, surveys, reveiws ect.
Still ebaying and selling like mad.
despite being heavily pregnant done many carboots and picked up bargains too.

must admit I now shop around for best deals
buy a lot of stuff for kids 2nd hand.

we have switched our mobiles and saved money there.
recently lowed our phone bill/broadband dramatically and saved us £40.
Hubbys going to try switch insurance and save us £10-£20
quit day nursury saving us £130 amonth from january.
hubby gets £80 payrise in jan and possibility of bonus brought back so feel confident we can pay off much more next year.

I intend to get part time job to bring in extra cash, also going to work harder on increase my income ect.

We so fed up of being in debts and want 2010 to be superyear for us.

So i will sign up for next challange and think bigger.

Reading everyone elses stories gives me such hope.
Will be revisiting old style as need to control grocery budget better than we have done.

Also I say this every year but really do need to put aside some money for xmas.

Well done everyone good luck this year and next.
thanks hypno for managing this huge challange.

I'm not going to make any more payments until the start of December, so I declare at £19,207......some way short of my original £30k target but still, I am happy with that, and it sets me up nicely for aiming towards debt freedom in 2010 :D

The first page is updated with those results that are in so far......keep them coming guys!!

  • Well done everyone on some fantastic debt-busting totals :j

Payday yesterday and last payments have gone out, so I'm declaring my total at £10,402.07.

It's a way short of my target, and I have to admit that I could have tried harder, but I've signed up to the new challenge completely determined not to faff for another year.

Thanks to hypno for the challenge and to all challengers for the inspiration.
