There WILL be a new thread starting - same goals, and I will do this to start on 1st December.
Although the title of the thread is pay off by Christmas 2009, obviously we don't want to get confused with whether we are still paying this challenge, or the next one - so I will just start the new one for 1st December and those that want to join in with the new start date will be more than welcome!
In the last week of November, I will start asking if anyone wants to "declare" their totals for this current challenge, and we will see what the collective total is.

Slight setback for me that the GF has decided she wants to move, so im having to find the deposit for the new rented place out of my "clear debt" money. Also the new place doesnt have a washing machine included so need to get one of them too.
However, as its "pay off by christmas" and as i will get paid before crimbo in december, i should still be able to clear the debt... just not end of this month (which has really annoyed me!). So not end of world, just be a few weeks later than i hoped! The house is really nice and getting more space for similar money so in the long run worth snapping up i guess.14/12/2009 - Official Debt Free Day

Have just made the momentous decision to transfer my overdraft to Virgin who were offering me 0% until next aug. So while that seems to increase my total owing it doesn't really, just makes it more honest. And I would have paid more in interest over the six months than I will pay for the transfer fee, and I reckong I can pay if off by nex Aug.
Also just got enough saved to pay off our joint overdraft, so am hoping to do that this week. Hurrah! Not going to post this year's total til the end of the month, when I've paid off as much as possible.0 -
OK, I took the plunge and did it. Paid off the joint overdraft, so that's another £900 paid off in this challenge.
Still not near my £10k target, but £6.5k is pretty good for us.0 -
I know I am jumping the gun a little, but I'm quite looking forward to drawing a line under this year's challenge and starting a nice spangly new one! I seem to have hit a bit of a brick wall in the latter end of the year as I have to save a bit more for January's tax bill, and as a result I'm stuck around the 15k mark. I am also moving house on December 18th so need to keep a bit by for that.
It'll be exciting to delete my old signature with a new one to represent the new start, and the year when I hit zero! (I think I need to get out more).0 -
