Thanks so much, all of you. I was like a child rushing to tell you all my news!

Talking of mass cutting up of credit cards - I've decided to keep just 2. My FirstDirect gold card, as it's never had a balance and is very convenient to use with my FD current account - and my American Express Platinum - so that I can get cashback when I buy stuff. Both, however, will definitely be paid *in full* by direct debit each month. I'm not starting down that cul-de-sac again.

    I'm definitely staying around, because:
    1) I really do want to be here to support everyone else - and share your good and bad times.
    2) That student loan needs to go by the time I finish my course!

Dare I start I mortgage free challenge....I think I might just save that for when I'm working full time. :)

Batfink - well done, I am so pleased for you! Hopefully at Xmas we can all reflect on 2009 as a year of debtbusting, and feel as good as you do now.

    Well done.

  • OMG, feel well & truly embarressed by Batfink & that wonderful news. I have added yet another £4K to my total ---the WRONG way----
I am now £8K over the £20K aim, BUT, the worst is now over, our lovely new shop is open & we have been busy. I am hoping now that from Sept onwards, the totals will start coming down.
I know I am not going to be anywhere near any of you guys, but this challenge has made me realise that I know I've had to spend the money, I know exactly why & where the money has gone, more importantly, I don't feel panicky about it (hmmm, slightly worrying, no??)
So - from here on in, its debt busting all the way.
Just wish me luck & again,
    ALL RESPECT TO BATFINK!!!!

  • I have reduced my debts by £236.62 today payments to 2 CCs I had hoped to pay more but waiting for a tax rebate and I am having to spend money at the moment on my holiday rental home to keep it up to standard so until I know how much that is going to cost I am having to be careful.

It does mean that I am under 47K which is good :j but my DFD has slipped a month

I don't get on here much these days but am still paying off debts, it has slowed down a bit after a fab start earlier in the year, not sure we'll make the £10k unless I get more inventive with the money making! This is partly due to the fact that we desperately need a new kitchen so have been svaing the last couple of months towards that instead of overpaying the debts, the good news being at least we won;t be getting into any more debt. Have updated my signature with my new totals and hopefully will get on here a bit more often to see how everyone else is doing.

    Huge congrats to batfink!
