Managed to get two new credit cards this month for 0% balance transfers - Abbey at 15 months and Post Office at 12 months. I was hoping that I would only need one more card with a big limit but Abbey only gave me £4k; and I need 5.5. Don't know what the PO limit is yet as weirdly they don't tell you, even though they give an instant decision, but I'm pretty confident it will cover the £1.5k.
So, I believe these will be the last BTs I ever do in my life! Hurrah! And also, I'm feeling pretty chuffed that in the past five years, whcih is basically when we've racked up our debt, I've had our CCs on 0% all the time so I've paid not a penny in interest to anyone. I've almost run out of card providers now though so it's just as well we're on the home straight.... Is there a tart's award? I think I'm eligible!0 -
Ladies and Gentlemen of the challenge, please ensure you are seated.....
I have just, this very minute, sent the final payment to my American Express card - bringing its balance to zero.
*fanfare of trumpets builds up slowly*
Yes, it's true - I have completed my challenge!
I now have no loans, no overdraught, and no credit card debt AT ALL! HOOORRRAAYYYYY.
It's taken me almost exactly 5 years to reach this point - I feel like everyone I see should be congratulating me, but the fact is - not a single person in the 'real world' ever knew I had any form of debt, let alone close to £30,000.
Now - take a sip of water, so that you can calm down. There's still some bad news..... I owe just under £7000 on my student debt (though I am still a student with a year to go) and still owe £97,500 ish on my mortgage. So - onto the next challenge I go.....
Most importantly - thank you all for your support, for a group of people I've never met I owe you a lot. It's a brilliant bunch of people on this challenge, and I wish you all the best in everything. Not that I'm leaving, of course.

Why, thank you. I am quite a tarty tart, it's true. :j
I'm sure they'll keep coming as long as you manage it well. I've had about 15 credit cards in total I think; I kept the good ones and dumped the rubbish ones, though I still have about £45k of debt available to me which is mad. I never once got turned down for a card; as I spaced the applications and kept a check on my credit file. It's been just over five years so far and hopefully not much longer. I shall have a mass cutting up ceremony when it's over, leaving me with one, or perhaps two for emergencies.0
