I feel really down today about my debts. Even though I know that I have paid off a lot since the start of the challenge I feel like I'm not moving this month and that I'm never going to clear them :(

Sorry to bring the mood down - I don't really have anyone to talk to about debts

I know how you feel but look! You've paid nearly 50% of your £10k, and we're nowhere near 50% through the year, so you're AHEAD of target. WEll done!

Hi guys - Now, I don't want ANY despondency on this thread, right.......?

This is a POSITIVE thread - every single penny that you lot are paying off, is a penny that you no longer owe. It is a penny that you no longer PAY someone else for the privilege of borrowing.

So, be proud of your achievements :T

It is payday for me today, so I have paid an additional £200 into the "get rid of the debt" pot, taking me to 25% of my target repaid so far :D

Hypno, you are so right. Just think where we would be if we were not making this effort and setting challenges. Reaching targets and setting challenges keeps us all motivated...is just fab.:j

Talking of which, I paid another £160 off today in order to reach one target. I'm chuffed and feeling a bit more positive.

I have updated my sig too.

Have a great day folks xxx

Woot! Done it! Made capital repayment to mtge of 12.5K, so with other stuff have now exceeded my target for year :D Total to date = £21965 against 15K target - and have set monthly overpayments up on mtge account again - not much, but we are now debt free apart from mtge (have even made sure all school trips/ holidays paid for - woo hoo!) so am happy that every little extra will help. Am also saving 'extras' money (eg quidco/ surveys etc) for holiday spending funds :D so we don't notice it as much when we finally go.

Have to say this has been made possible by hubby being made redundant - thankfully he left work on the Fri and started a new job the following Mon. However, the new job has no company car and is twice the distance away - so will cost us more in petrol and we have had to buy a car - BUT he has a job and we should hopefully be roughly the same off as before if we're careful. New baby is due in less than 4 weeks too - eek!! I need to make sure I maximise on things like quidco & also look at mystery shopping. Can't get my head around bingo, either! Things like that will be 'treat' money - also have a few items (less than 10) to list on fleabay. Won't raise much, but will clear some room in the house!

have a great day - hope the weather is as nice where you are as it is here!!!

  • Well, here goes the bumpy ride to oblivion/huge riches.....have just spent over £5k on cc for new premises & the bills are rolling in daily:eek:
Please send lots of good luck vibes this way as if it doesn't work, I shall be working days/nights/selling Big Issue/going to the dogs, generally be in much worse shape than I could believe. The worse thing is, the whole family are behind me, & if it goes wrong, we will all lose big time.

    Here goes nuttin'
