Thanks Greent - I know counting total is sort of cheating - but I think it motivates me more seeing a bigger number. Maybe I will start reporting both numbers...

    Hello

just wanted to touch base and let you and prove to myself the challenge that we are all on. received my pay slip yesterday and underestimated how much overtime I had completed so increased my standing orders on my credit cards so that I am effectively paying off £400 off my credit card tomorrow. All of my DD's and S/O are coming out tomorrow so by friday will be able to divvy the rest between my living/ food and social costs and throwing the remainder at cutting down those debts. I have finally finished clearing my mortgage arrears so will use that excess to chip away as the debt then hopefully use that money to chip away at the mortgage. it does get a bit weary sometimes and I feel that my BF thinks I am a workaohlic(?) but I am just trying to dig myself out of a hole I created many moons ago. turning 30 really made me think about my relationship with money and whilst I am in a job that is benefical and is fairly secure I won't be on the time rich list any time soon so want to claw back some power that being in debt has held over me. was talking to my sis about this site and it has been so helpful in helping me re train the way i think about saving, spending and my power as a consumer. anyhow let me finsh by saying a massive thanks to everyone and good luck with your journey.

    Good Morning all,

Monday is here again - I don't know where my weekends go!
Anyway, I've started the week on a good note - my direct debit for American Express went out this morning, so I've topped it up with an additional payment of £221.07 to bring the balance down to £2000 exactly. I'm getting there.....

Have a lovely week all of you,
    x

    morning folks

well it's pay day today and just checked all of my increased DD and SO have come out today. so that's a relief but have looked at my spending/ food budget leftand it is fairly basic but am hoping that my agency will be able to offer me some additional shifts. am thinking of contacting the credit card companies to attempt to reduce my APR. my credit rating isn't too wonderful so will have to remain with them but my payments have been regular and haven't been spending on them for over 6 months so fingers crossed. talking of credit rating. sent off my £2 cheques to experian and equifax yesterday so can keep an eye. am hoping to throw £1800 at my debts inc mortgage this month. have a good one peace and good vybes to the 20k challengers

Payday today so £537 has come off my total so far, still have some payments to make so it will come down a little more yet till next payday.

I have managed to clear another debt today!!! No more lloyds!! Got the next small one of £280 to go now so am concentrating on that one next. I think my total might be a little more than the 12k i originally thought but hey ho, i am still paying debts off right? Guess i just need a little motivation as i am sick of being skint each month now. The good news is that i am sub 7k for this challenge and almost half way there too, just hope that when i have a few less debts the total will drop nice and quick. My snowball now shows 11 months although not all the debts are on there, i am too afraid to add them as the number of months will go up and my motivation will go down so i am just going to plod along at the moment. I AM going to be another debt free this time next month, thats my focus right now. Sorry for waffling, keep going guys, we will do it!

Well done Pania, how exciting! I freed up my barclaycard last month (haven't noticed the extra money though, boo)
  • Hi all,

Haven't been here for a while, so just updating that I have finally terminated my car finance agreeement with no further liability. This means I have sneakily edged over half way to my target of £20,000 for the year....
