Welcome to all newbie challengers - everyone has been added.

Paul843 and Mel19632, please let me know your targets in due course and I will add them in!

Double Trouble - What can I say!! WOW!!! Good luck with that £40k challenge - you CAN do this!!

As for ideas - the best thing to do is trawl these boards - try the £10 a day challenge, go to the "up your income" board, try matched betting (if you have NO gambling tendancies of course!) ebay like mad, take all the overtime available, plan your meals so you spend less in the supermarket etc etc etc.

It really does just take a little bit of effort and some focus and determination - stop faffing and start doing!

    Good luck everyone :T

  • ta hyno...fpr me its going back to basics and saying "no" to the wants and yes to the needs..ocasional treats but not as regular as they have been of late!

That's why I like these challenges, ISOM - for a while, at least, it makes me sit down and think about what I am doing, and how I am going about it. That in turn leads to new realisation that I CAN do this, I just have to make a few changes about the way in which I am doing things......as you say, saying No to some things, is a really basic action, but one that we are not always too good at doing!

    We will get there!!

  • Wow! Amazing to see we're already a tribe! So many co-conspirators to defeat the dreaded debts - it's very encouraging, I think.

I earned an extra £40 today which I am symbolically earmarking as my first downpayment on my mega-campaign of abstinence from spending. I'm going to pay it in at the bank on Monday (my day 1, I've decided), and I'm going to add an extra £15 from my current account to that (to reach my target of £55 a day or equivalent) - to remind myself that this can be done!

Good luck to EVERYONE! What a celebration we'll have next December!!

Ahh well just update my sig then..will look odd going back to zero.
  • Ok, am feeling quite inspired reading through all the posts so count me in, total debt is £16705.24, so I'm going to aim for £10k, was going to go for the full amount but I'm on maternity leave until the end of May so a bit restricted in earning extra until then. £10k will still be a challenge though but hoping I'll find inventive ways of making our money go further which will help. I'm going to count pymts made but not take the int into account as it'll make it easier for my brain, lol, plus only 1 of our debts has int added each month anyway.
    Total Debt (27th Nov 08) £16,707.03 Now £5,102.72

Crazyhazy, I have added you to the list - we now have over 70 challengers:T

People have made a good start already - well done! My first payments don't come out until Monday, so my total stands at 0.........

As well as posting the amount you pay off, if you have any tips and ideas for your fellow challengers such as meal planning, cutting back, extra income ideas etc, then please share them! It will all help get everyone debt free sooner!
