If on ave people pay 10,000 that will mean 700,000 less for the banks next year! How cool is that eh...consumer revenge in a big way! Mine at zero and I suspect will be for a while as just paid so its 20 Dec that my figs will shift although may have some quidco money to contribute! Will check tonight!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

I'm off and running. Have paid £200 to a friend and £65 to my mum. So £265 down only another £14,735 to go to reach target before Christmas 2009!!
Keeping a very close hold of the purse strings and am only buying absolute essentials. £20 this morning on petrol as fuel light on, (I have to have a car because I live in the middle of no where). £5 top-up on mobile phone. (Hardly use phone, just odd texts and emergencies but had no credit left!)
Will be doing Christmas on a tight budget this year, but hope that Christmas 2009 will be a little more prosperous for us all.Paid off £16,715/£16,550 by Christmas 2013Now to pay off all remaining debts by Christmas 2014Total to pay #041 £7,086.97/£16,500Only £9,413.03 to go :eek:0 -

gilly, I have added you in! Mel, I have updated your target.
ISOM, that is a really good point - just think, this challenge thread alone could account for almost a million pounds LESS of debt this time next year. How fab would that be for everyone.
Forget Gordon Brown/Alisdair Darling with their pathetic 2.5% reduction in VAT........who needs them when you have a challenge on a DFW board :T

I am just going to let this £20k one overlap with the other one as otherwise my brain will explode.
I will be making all my payments for December at sometime this week (probably after Tuesday) but am all impatient and want to do it now (anyone that is also on the paper hat challenge will have seen my impatient angst and ditherings) - payments for December should be about £1600 - hurrah!
I think am going to go make my £20k include both capital and interest just because it is simpler for my poor aching brain, it will still take me well below £10k though, maybe even below £5k.
Well done to everyone that has already made headway.£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

That is some thought isn't it...I think the govt should come on here:cool:Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0
