I wasn't going to try to clear my debt by next Dec - I didn't want to put myself under too much pressure! But you have all inspired me and the thought of being debt free (except mortgage!) so soon makes me feel great - so here goes! I am off to do my accounts and make this months payments - Will be back in a bit to update - Good luck all and thanks Hypno for the inspiration x0

Hi all,
Can I join in this one please. I will aim for £10k and that will make me debt free (can't even think what that would be like!)
Am very excited about this. Gave up smoking 5 days ago so I have been making daily payments towards my debt so I have been seeing a difference everyday.
Is it okay to start today?Pay off all your debt by Xmas 2012Aim £8200Total so far £3700Left £45000 -
ok - since we are starting today  - i have moved some money from my ISA (so gutted to see that balance go down even though it was what I was saving it for!)
and have paid £800 to EGG. now owe just £28 on CC's!!! :j this will be taken out in full when payment due later in december.
that leaves my just my 2 loans to sort. am going to sit and work out the best way to do it. owe £2800 on one. can make overpayments, have £1400 (now) in ISA, am waiting a check for £1000 from uni for return of fees. dont know whether to get a settlement figure (14 payments left) or make a massaive overpayment and leave one months payment for them to take out (£207) - what do people think??
off to update siggy!

Hi guys, thats me made my last payment for the 2008 thread and I managed 17151.08. It was a real motivator and I'm determined to hit the 20K mark this time.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

ok not sure how to record this!
Just paid off £1248.64 so £18751.36 to go :j0 -
Oh my word ... I really don't use the DFW button enough ... I've just been using the User Control button, where you don't see new threads
and look what's happened! Okay, I'm in. £20k. I know my debt is less than that, but I need at least that level of money to spend on the house: demolishing a leaning wall and rebuilding it, repairing mortar to make the house waterproof again, and rewiring and replumbing.
For the previous challenge, I'm standing at £8279.... thats counting overpayments on my mortgage, loan repayments, and French mortgage repayments; all capital only, I don't count interest payments. That will end up at £8609.
Okay, that means I'd be counting December's regular payments twice - once in each challenge- since I'm declaring it here, it doesn't matter
:rotfl: . I can't do more than one long term challenge, I'm constitutionally incapable, so the commitment I'll make here is that I'll post *at least* when a payment/overpayment is made. I'll keep to the monthly challenge for the little bits, I think, because thats mostly about earning, and includes (for me) vouchers and stuff.
Okay! 'nuff said. Posting now.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
OOOoooo are we starting? OK, off to make some payments!
I've got redundancy looming over my head here. Very not nice. Should find out on Monday. GUlp.0 -
Hi
And yet another year of overspending goes by - just totalled up my CC bills and got a real shock. Decided enough is enough!!!
Not sure how I'll do it, but put me down please for 20K by Dec 09 !! That would pretty much clear all of the outstanding debt. Absolutely determined to do this.
Cahoot 1st (21.9% APR !), followed by Egg (12.9%), the others are 0% so will continue with minimum payments for the time being.
Debt as of 28.11.2008
Cahoot 4999.95; Egg 3036.64; Halifax 8518.20; Barclays 5090.00; Virgin 5845.00
Total 27489.790 -
Good start robbo - and good luck! It is amazing how spending mounts up - try keeping a spending diary for a while to see where the money goes - you might be surprised where the leaks are and be able to make savings fairly painlessly!0
