Want to see something different and amazing ? Kseniya Simonova's Amazing Sand Drawing-
    http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=vOhf3OvRXKg
This video shows the winner of "Ukraine’s Got Talent", Kseniya Simonova, 24, drawing a series of pictures on an illuminated sand table showing how ordinary people were affected by the German invasion during World War II. Her talent, which admittedly is a strange one, is mesmeric to watch.

Have finished at the office this morning, but will be working tonight as have taken my other job back yesterday. The boss called me and we had a chat and I've agreed to to go back. I really need the money so I didn't really have a choice as yesterday I went to do my Christmas food shop and I only had £36 to get me till mid Jan.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has posted with advice and comments over the last year- it has been eventful, and as they say what doesn't kill you can only make you stronger.
I've got Port, Stella and Jack (great names for chav kids) roast beef for tomorrow and for a special treat I will be having Dairylea on toast for breakfast- I cant wait.

    Happy Christmas everyone ! Jim.(humbug)

    Subject: EURO LANGUAGE

The European Union commissioners have announced that an agreement has been reached to adopt English as the preferred language for European communications, rather than German, which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and have accepted a five-year phased plan for what will be known as Euro English (Euro for short).

In the first year, "s" will be used instead of the soft "c". Sertainly, sivil servants will reseive this news with joy. Also, the hard "c" will be replaced with "k". Not only will this klear up konfusion, but typewriters kan have one less letter.

There will be growing public enthusiasm in the sekond year, when the troublesome "ph" will be replased by "f". This will make words such as fotograf" 20% shorter.

In the third year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkorage the removal of double letters, which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of silent "e"s in the language is disgrasful, and they would go.

By the fourth year, peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" by "z" and "w" by "v". During ze fifz year, ze unesesary "O" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou", and similar changes vud, of kors, be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters.

Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German lik zey vunted in ze forst plas...
    Auf wiedersehen
  • have just spent my xmas day evening reading through your entire thread! well, mainly your posts on it and some replies.....

i had to stop myself posting earlier with replies to things that happened months ago:rolleyes:

it's been an interesting and inspiring evening with a few tears in the eyes along the way.

just one question left to ask - did you speak to your previous lodger about the phone bill and what was the outcome?

on a money saving note - as far as i know, tescos still take ANY money-off coupons. you don't need to buy the items as long as they sell them (am about to do this again this week so will let you know if it still works). i get some through the post as sign up to lots of manufacturer's websites, pick them up in store and cut them out from discarded mags at work.

on a money-making note - there IS money to be made from ebay. this year i signed up legit to pay tax on my extra earnings. there are plenty of items to be found at car boots and charity shops (i think you said you sold an item on amazon) that can make you money. some of it is trial and error and research also. there used to be a great thread on here called ' things you thought you could never sell on ebay'!

on a french film note - you've probably seen 'ma vie en rose', but 'hidden' is really good/sinister also. plus the ?belgian film 'paula and paulette' is heartwarming.

and finally, a happy xmas to you too! p.s. hope your friend is ok and the police sort the very nasty man out.

Some good news-British Gas is reducing my Gas dd from £45 to £24pm. Sent them my readings yesterday, will keep a close eye on the account in the meantime though.
With my electric I am £ 54.22 in credit and with my gas £ 92.77 in credit, this is a worry taken off my mind !
Hello Firesidemaid ! Let me know about those vouchers in Tescos- did you use them ok?
  • went to our local tescos yesterday, bought about £19 worth of stuff and used £3.50 in coupons (£1/50p values) - hadn't bought ANY of the items that the vouchers were actually for.

in recent days i have been seen tearing out £1 pizza vouchers from mags in tea room. in the post i have been receiving various money-off coupons for wash powder/softener/cat food - normally 50p/£1 plus you often get free samples too.

A friend has a flat she rents out with an expensive kitchen and top of the range cooker, which has stopped working. Rather than get an engineer direct from the manufactures, which would be expensive, she thought about a local skilled tradesman, which she found through http://www.checkatrade.com/ .
Lovely guy turns up at the rental- no call out charge, and quotes her £120 for a fix, cant buy the part on its own have to buy the kit etc. So she says she will think about it.
She smells a rat so call the manufacture directly who send around there own engineer, he fixes it and it’s a completely different component and does it cheaper. He’s amazed about the parts in kits as you can buy any component on its own.
Meanwhile this other repairman has started calling and leaving messages that he’s no bought the parts (wrong ones) cant take them back etc and she owes him £120. He’s calling her all day every day and the messages have started to get threatening now. She never speaks to him, he just leaves messages on her mobile.
I only found out last night when I called her for a chat, whilst we were talking about it her mobile starts ringing and she diverts it to answer phone. In the next two minutes this happens nine times, then he leaves a message. She plays it down the phone so we hear to together.
“(her name), you fuxking cxnt, you’ve ruined my Christmas, so I’m going to ruin yours, I know where you live, consider yourself fuxked”
I immediately race around there- shes 22 weeks pregnant and her husband is stuck in snow and wont be coming home. She shows 2.5 pages of A4 paper filled with this stuff and has now called the police.

How awful- she is so distressed, this guy has even threatened her tenants.

The police have contacted the nutter and the phonecalls have all stopped- well done plod !
Have just spent the evening counting down the new year with my hand on her stomach waiting for the baby to kick- I felt nothing but I did have warm hand and dinner was cooked for me !
I need to come up with some interesting stories for the new year, at the moment I have nothing except I did just see a Muslim friend of mine out on the town with her head uncovered drinking a Bacardi brezzer with a boy (white) and eating a Pepperoni Pizza. It's warmed my soul to see someone rebelling against authority and organised religion.

An 18-year-old has secretly painted a 60ft drawing of a phallus on the roof of his parents' £1million mansion in Berkshire. It was there for a year before his parents found out. They say he'll have to scrub it off when he gets back from travelling.
