Aah, it was the Event in my day, maybe Orianas initially. You have it a bit tricky living there don't you? Not much is cheap around there. I guess the places aimed at students for food and drink may be a bit more MSE. Has work improved any? Anyway, thanks for the nostalgia and have a good day.

I have been corresponding thru pm's regarding first direct bank charges after being contacted by another site user. thay have sent all of their documents to fd to prove financial hardship so are one step ahead of me (still getting mine together). FD have acknowlegded that there is a case of hardship but have stated that it has not been caused by themselves and that they think that they think there charges were fair and will wait until the court ruling before taking any further action. will be preparing my next round of letters to them in the coming days.

When I first moved to the south coast eight years ago I was struck suddenly with terrible dental pain as a result of my wisdom teeth growing ( by the way for all those Darwin sceptics, wisdom teeth are proof of evolution, some have them, some don't, in a few thousand years no one will as they are surplus to requirement ) and I didn't have a dentist. A colleague recommended a private one and I went straight there and received excellent care and treatment albeit at a price. I had been using this dentist for a number of years and eventually was able to claim some of the cost back through scheme at work, at £100 per check up though it was getting silly and I haven't been for about 2 years, I have no dental problems at present but its been nagging me to find an NHS dentist. Obviously I've been reading about the NHS dental crisis and how 100's of people queue overnight to register when a new dentist opens so I thought I would struggle and would just have to pay when a problem arises so imagine my surprise today when I popped into my local NHS dentist and registered and have booked a check up for Wednesday, has it been my lucky day or is it just the media knocking the usually (from my limited experience ) excellent NHS.

I haven'y had any nasty phonecalls for ages now and quite freely answer the phone without any worries since getting the dmp from patplan, however this morning I have received a letter from Charles Howard & Partners of Thornton Heath, Surrey , regarding my Nationwide credit card. The letter is 72 hour notice of home visit, the purpose of this visit is to secure payment from me and investigate your home situation prior to court action. Now I know that Nationwide are getting paid and Payplan have advised me that Nationwide have accepted my dmp. should I call these people, will they turn up, or is it a scare tactic?

I'm not certain of where you stand here but I'm inclined to say you don't have to give them access to your home - and in fact need to deny them access if they do turn up. There are quite a lot of similar letters to yours if you Google the company!
I would be inclined to write and say about Payplan, but someone else may have better advice.
Sounds like a standard pressure tactic to me.

Can't believe they charged you £100 for a private check up! Mine has just gone up to £40.
I think the availability of NHS dentists varies regionally, they are very thin on the ground indeed round here (North Yorkshire) but we found one eventually though - long story short - after my previous NHS dentist leaving me with a mess that cost me over £350 to sort out, I decided to stay with a different private dentist I had just started with, who I have confidence in. I have had mostly good NHS dentists over the years, I think the move away from NHS dentistry being available to all is a huge retrograde step.
Incidentally the NHS dentist we found commutes from Derbyshire!!! Over 60 miles, so there isn't really a local NHS dentist here...
Re: wisdom teeth - personally I think in a few thousand years a greater proportion of the population will have them, as they will be needed to replace teeth lost through lack of affordable dentistry... :)

Give Payplan a call on Monday? They may have some advice. Blimey. It's a bit out of the blue. I don't know much about these things but I wouldn't let them in under any circumstances, but you need to get some proper advice from someone who knows.
    Good luck
