Enjoy your bonus JIm! Any sane person will know it's not the cashiers etc who caused the financial industry to melt - it was the bigwigs with no qualifications, no common sense and GREED who messed everything up! Don't ever stop posting on your thread! x

thanks for everyone support! I love it when longtime "lurkers" who have been following the thread from the beginning feel compled to join in and comment. Everyday I gain strength and courage from your comments to carry on. At the moment I am working on one final unpaid bill which payplan have been unable to help me with, more news to follow at the end of the month (after this I will be no longer worried !)

Hah! I'm a general lurker - my work is either dead or crazy, so i'm either on MSE 6 hours a day or not at all for weeks... but I keep my beady eye on the interesting threads ;) x
  • Hi Jim,

found your thread yesterday, and read it through from start to end - a million congratulations on everything that you have achieved in such a short time - what an inspiration!

I had a thought - as you do some of your grocery shopping in tesco, do you have a clubcard? I don't remember you mentioning it, or anyone else suggesting it, or you may already have one, but if you haven't why not get one? You will get points every time you shop and then eventually you will get money off vouchers either to put towards your shopping or to treat yourself to something nice!

  • Hiya

Just wanted to say that I know how you feel, I was in exactly the same position last yearan when I finally sat down to work out my debtit was....ready for it 77k excluding mortgage. I had a real long think abt what o do and decided to go bankrupt..as there was no equity in the property that was not taken into account....not saying that this is what yu should do but I would check all options. We eventually gave back our house to the bank and moved away.....We are now 1 month away from discharge of the bankruptcy and I can tell you its the best thing I ever done...altho a bit sad.

I'm sure you've had plenty of info now and hope you found the answers and to know your not alone is a big help.

    I know stelly. lol.
whilst reading the site today I have started to start the ball rolling in claiming back my bank charges from First Direct (£2298)

I have asked for advice on claiming , letters etc and how to prove a hardship case, I certainly feel like one !
  • Well I've had a reasonably good week. My Dad collected the car on Tuesday and had a nice afternoon with him in the pub. Still hasn't passed the kidney stone and now he has an "burning" infection, I advised him to drink cranberry juice ( and no, I don't know from experience, but it has reminded me of a funny storey of an old girlfriend with an itch....I'll save that for another time !) but he seemed content with speckled hen instead. We also had a curry (broke the diet) and he asked if I was doing ok money wise, I lied and said everything is fine. I don't mind sharing with everyone in cyber space but family members, that's a no !
I will be receiving a £390 bonus at work next week which will go to pay a six month late maintenance charge on the flat. I have the whole day off today, probably the first Saturday i've not worked in six months. A friend and I are going to go into Brighton for a drink this afternoon (break the diet) the sun is shining here with blue skys- looks great ! Only I've realised its valentines day (bah humbug etc) and she is married so what is her husband going to do when we go boozing ? Maybe the spark is gone after 2 years ! Maybe is my alluring wit and personality? Or maybe I am just funny in the pub ! Got to be careful as have the next weigh in on Tuesday.

a fellow brighton-er!!! hellooo from the sunny south coast!
