Jim have you seen Firewalker and the Matrix Girl thread? They are all doing business things to make more money (cut costs and earn more). I will do it after I have completed this 2nd round of building on my housey but you are bright you could have a go and probably make a fortune.
With regard to the money situation, we are all running on a wheel like blooming hamsters. There must be a way out of this nuthouse. Call me when you find it.:(

Mr Jim do you know a way to get money from selling cds? Music Magpie is pants, they are only offering 0.30 for most pop stuff and even Susanne Vega to £1.87 for the Damned.
I could list them on ebay i suppose but it'll take ages. Maybe. Any ideas?Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
Why don't you make the most of what you have, your students? I'm sure you could obtain permission from work to sell a few cd's somewhere.
Find a place where the students all go to hang out, ie the student union, bar, refectory, or whatever, and set yourself up with a table in the entrance/ foyer, so the first person they see is you, and then charge whatever you like, per cd. 50p or £1 for albums and 20p or 50p, whatever for singles. They'll sell like hotcakes, and you'll get far more for them selling them seperately, or play it by ear and sell some together for a fixed amount.

Right I have a holiday plan. I have agreed to work some weekends and nights until mid September. All weekend work is double time for me and all work between 10pm and 6pm comes with an additional £5 per hour as a sweetener. This should net me an additional months salary which will then provide a brilliant fortnights holiday in cash strapped Greece at the end of September.
The best bit is that during the night shifts there is every possibility that there will be pretty much nothing to do as I will just be there in case the computer systems fail and to do some systems testing. The company has also bought and paid for loads of food so I won't even have to shell out. I am so excited I keep looking at holiday websites to see what offers are available.
Having a very good week and listening to Stevie Nicks- edge of seventeen-wow.0 -

Jim,
May I recomend 'Potiche' to your Gallic canon?
Saw it last Sunday[Guardian free film voucher] and it was delicious - Gerard Depardieu and Catherine Deneuve[lots of little loving nods to other things of their work, but not obvious to non-cognoscenti maybe] also well-reviewed on Front Row a couple of nights ago.
The trailer for this played too - another must-see[this, from someone who, until last week, hadn't been to a film for a couple of decades or more, so far as I can remember]:

This bit looks like the trailer we saw:

Good for you on holiday plan. Odd. I, too, have been thinking of Greece, one place I've never yet been to. Not quite sure how it hasn't happened. Investigating sth with tesco vouchers - have nearly £500 to allocate by end of month.
Another very wet weekend outside - as per last year for next village's Church fête, but I'll go, despite being car-less this w/e, as it's usually v.g.
Your pay rate sounds splendid. Can you take some reading in with you for slack hours or is it not that sort of work situ?
Have a good weekend.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

I've been to Greece (Corfu) about 12 years ago and thought it was fantastic, the food, oh the food. Chinese was always my favourite but then on the first night in a restaurant I asked for a selection of local dishes and fell in love the Greek food instantly. I still eat Greek salads when I go out now and my idea of heaven involves moussaka.
The only reason that I am thinking Greek at the moment is that I think it will be good value but with the amount of overtime I am doing I may be able to be a little more choosy when the time arrives, nothing will be booked until two weeks before we go at the earliest and I have heard that Turkey will be a lot cheaper this year as well as they haven't discounted for two years and have really suffered so this year there are bargains galore.
The only criteria I have is something peaceful with a pool and not too far away from a nice beach- that's it, that's all I care about as all I will do is sit and read by the pool and maybe go on the beach, everything else will be a bonus (must leave form Gatwick as its dead close).
I am going to go with my lodger as he has said that he and his wife are definitely over now so he needs a holiday- so dead happy about that as he has the same taste as me, pool, beach, sunshine and the odd beer or two.
Going to have a look at icelolly.com to see what sort of things they offer.0 -
Just had a look at icelolly.com. Wow. 18th September 14 nights bb Corfu £204 each. Mmmm, can I cast the net further and wider to see what else planet Earth has to offer?
Sharm el Sheik 4star all inclusive £384 each. Now in two weeks in Corfu I would easily get through £180 which is the difference between the two holidays so Egypt would offer better value and work out cheaper + I can practice my Arabic (don't know any Greek) and I can get some more stamps in my dive log book. I am loving icelolly.com this is by far the best travel site I have ever come across, has anyone any actual experience of booking a holiday through it? When you call up do thay actually have that holiday for sale at that advertised price?0 -
I'll look at icelolly later, jim - may use Mr T£ for airmiles instead...yes, I know everything's cheaper online direct with companies by comparison, but I offset the no-money thing against this.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:
