Now that Spring has finally arrived I have turned down my heating and read my meters. I pay a set amount by DD every month calculated by British Gas on my estimated usage. I am careful with how much energy I use as it has gone up so much in the past but after entering my readings I am £3.70 in debt for the gas and £39.15 in credit for the electricity. I think I have done pretty good and have celebrated by buying a second hand set of golf clubs.
A delightful lady I know is going through a messy break up and I have offered her £50 for her ex's golf clubs which she has kindly excepted(bit my hand off) with out blinking. It's a full set with a bag and trolley, umbrella, loads of balls and I've found £3 in the pocket ! Roll on the sunshine.
As of Tuesday this week I will be nearer 40 than 30 so I am off out for dinner tomorrow night (2 courses for £5 courtesy of the Sunday Times) and last night I went to see the "Green Zone" at the cinema which was very good but I am amazed that I was able to hear anything over all the noise of people having "picnics" in there. I am surprised that more people don't buy food at the cinema as it is such good value for money, just £9.70 for 2 cokes and a popcorn- bargain. Why do people spend £3.50 on a bag of Maltesers that they know full well in the shop next door cost £1.50, in no other walk of life would you dream of being ripped off in this way.
There was a lovely Spanish lady in front of me complaining that she had been charged £1 extra for 3D glasses and that a few months a go they were free in the same cinema. The useless twerp in the kiosk (think of that same character from the Simpsons with the wailing high pitched voice "I'll just get the manager ")
said that you can keep them for next visit- yeah right. They give 'em away free first time, then no one brings them back and hey presto captive audience all forced to pay another £1. Bunch of robbing shylocks.
I feel like setting up a website about rip off cinemas. Rant over.
Edit. I have just googled "rip off cinema"- spoilt for choice. Charging a "booking fee" when you book online and collect your tickets from the machine, thus freeing up more staff to handle live customers, surely you should get a discount for that, like in every other industry?
Main complaints are about people eating, price of food, getting turned away with your own food. Somehow I don't think cinemas are helping them selves with the crusades against illegal downloading, quick dvd releases and huge HD tv's with cinema sound and blue ray in your own home. Maybe they see there days are numbered and are after as much profit now before they go belly up.0 -

I had an individual banoffee and it was delicious. My nieces and nephews were waiting for me to come down to their houses and see them last night as we always have a tea party but since my Dad is in hospital I had to visit him. I didn't get home until 11pm and then I had to go to a wake. Therefore I am having a tea party at the weekend, all being well of course! My eldest niece who is 18 years old wanted me to go to the cinema with her, I didn't think it was cool to go to the cinema with your auntie!
