I do hope you dont mean put the cat in the bin liner -that is a bit radical is it not LOL
I would try the water pistol - my cats will do a number 1 in the garden but not number 2.

Hello lisadupreez
I'm a board guide for the 'In my home' board. We have a large thread (currently 13 pages of posts) called 'Help! cats using my grass as a loo (merged threads)' which should give you some tips.

I used a tip given out by Diarmund Gavin on one of his gardening programmes once. Fill an empty 2 litre lilt bottle with water and stand it in the middle of the garden. Now, although this may seem ridiculous it actually worked for us. I'm not sure whether there is a citrus smell from the bottle or there is another reason but the cats never came back. I think it's something to do with the reflection from the curved surface of the bottle that the cats can't cope with. Do they see a strange shaped cat looking back at them, with larger eyes?

Princess_Fiona wrote:Does anyone have any advice as to how to stop the local cat population of using my garden as a toilet. No problem with the backgarden as I have got a dog and he keeps them well clear. But the front garden is another problem. Dont get me wrong am not a cat lover but I dont want to hurt them I just want them to do their business elsewhere.
Any ideas?????

We can`t have cats in the house these days due to asthma but a neighbours cat is hovering around the house too close for comfort and actually came inside yesterday. This morning we have found a substantial cat poo leaning against our front door!!!!
Quick as a flash It is cleaned up and I`m on the net looking for an effective deterrent. The sonic ones, well maybe they work and maybe they don`t but they are quite pricey for an experiment. I read about the citrus oils and dived to the back of my fridge to find the 3 year old bottle of lakeland orange concentrate. I have diluted it and sprayed it around the front and by golly it has got quite a pungent smell. Fingers crossed because if this works then it will be relatively cheap
When avian flu comes to this country properly then cats will be the outcasts because of their bird-eating habits. Roll on. The best cat owners are the ones who keep them in at night0
