Yes it does seem a lot of cases.0

I can understand the deterant charging for excessive luggage, face it, two suitcases is a little over the top for a weeks holiday. Charging £30 to check in one case, on top of the card charges, online/boarding pass charge etc, is now getting a little silly.
As discussed in these various pages, Ryanair are great value if you have your wits about you to make the savings but a lot of these charges are becoming unaviodable or over the top. Maybe Ryanair should charge a tenner for their flights instead of offering them for free and with the extra cost, pump that money into covering charges like check in instead of sneakily bleeding money out of people.
I know they state a lot of these things in their small print and you have to go past these payment points before you pay but I feel they are going down the " double galzing" salesman route now.0 -

Why is it geting silly? The aim to reduce the amount of baggage taken into the sky. Ryanair don't need or want your luggage - hence why the charges are reflecting this policy. From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -

The only thing you have to wait for is the card charge at the last page. Ryanair let you know at every step what your selected options cost.
Ryanair quite clearly do not want the people who fly with the kitchen sink therefore this is their way of either encouraging people to travel lighter or getting those people to look at another airline.0 -

More my point, they are becoming like a double glazing salesman and whacking extras on when trying to advertise cheap.
I agree that you should pay extra for excessive luggage but 20kg isn't exactly excessive so why slam people for that? Face it, if you're going away for a week, the size of hand luggage isn't quite big enough. I am a very light traveller and my ideal bag is just a little bigger than a hand luggage size. I would imagine that most people have the same requirement, so therefore that are making a charge for you carrying the essentials. Same as charging you to board the plane. I've said it before, but this is an avoidable charge unless you get really lucky with one of their free boarding passes.
Don't get me wrong, I'll reiterate that Ryanair are great value but they do push the limits of what they can get away with and to me, they come across as a bit of a cut throat, take you money from you when you're least expecting it company. They are not alone though.0 -
Due to a recent death in our familly we had to get to Scotland from the Midlands very quickly and booked a flight online with BMI. Firstly I found the hidden costs astoundingly high bringing one return fare East Midlands Airport to Glasgow to £306.40 ( including £65 for EXTRAS )
Then to add insult to injury I found if we were booking the same return journey using the Glasgow Airport online form it would only cost £211.03 A DIFFERENCE OF £95.43.
Although we chose to fly (to save precious time) an off peak return train journey would only cost £99. And if you compare total travel time from address to address there is very little difference ( bearing in mind parking, transfer & check time allowances at each airport)
I also noted that the flight to Glasgow seats were easily available as only half were reserved. This must be the only way the airline can offer such a wonderful service by charging 3 times as much as the train services. Can BMI continue to attract customers at these prices?0 -

The quickest way from Glasgow to the midlands is by car (depending on location it can be as quick as 3hours). It's also probably the cheapest with all things considered.
Not sure why you needed a flight, but you must conceed that booking flights at very short notice results in very high fares.Legal team on standby0 -
Getting from Glasgow and say Nottingham and return is done the easiest and cheapest way is by car....£100 ish total for fuel? 4-5 hours each way leisurely driving within speed limits.0
