Airline Charges Rip Off Discussion

Ryanair flights only sell around the first 50 or so seats at a promotional rate and then the prices start to rise steadily.
I've a lot of respect for O'Leary after reading a book of quotes. He says he wants rid of things such as check in desks because of additional costs and therefore he can keep charging low fares. Also that he can't base aircraft at certain airports because of weather conditions and so this has an effect on flight times...which I understand, and also the airports handling fees affect prices.
People go on about how they want transparency in flight, yet whinge when the £5 online check in fee is listed seperately rather than included in the total fare. At the end of the day O'Leary offers you a way to get cheap flights...it's up to you if you take them or not.0 -

I've now been flying Ryanair for over 22 years without a problem.:D0 -

NEED HELP!!!
I've just booked with Ryanair under my maiden name as my passport has lapsed. I have photocard drivers license and thought, as it's a domestic flight, i could use that - i can but not online therefore they're gonna con another £40 out of me to check in at the airport.
Is there any way i could avoid the £40 boarding pass print charge or change my name for less than £100 (i'll pay for my passport to be renewed as I'm travelling abroad next year). I only just booked it 20 mins ago!

You can get a passport renewed the same day if you go to one of the regional passport offices yourself. You call and make an appointment, then on the day you need to take your passport photo (they have booths at the office) and a few forms of ID (driving licence, utility bill, not your mobile phone bill). They will give you your passport same-day. It costs around £115.
All the details you need are here:

You could then take your new passport and go and check in online.
Also, I hope the flights are before 1st October if you can't renew your passport in time, as Ryanairs website says they will stop accepting photo drivers licence as ID from this date, even for domestic flights.

I thought that if your flights weren't booked before 20th May, you couldn't use a driving license at all as ID, you had to use a passport?0
-
You are allowed to renew your passport under your maiden name. That would avoid paying Ryanair anything, but you would have keep using your maiden name for bookings for the next 10 years. If you are going to renew your passport do it before the price goes up.0

Been ripped off by Lyanair, Sleasyjet and/or Flybe-nite, recently?
Well, as they say at Lyanair-Dublin: ripping off our unsuspecting customers is as easy as.. 1-2-3-O'leary
Or as often said at Luton..
No airline is sleazier than us! Your best rip-off bet, is fly with us at Sleasyjet!
..and overheard at Southampton..
'makes no diff who you fly with mate, we (and Lyanair & Sleasyjet) are all rip-off, fkn Flybenites'!
Comment by three unknown budget airline representatives..
It's been suggested that we should be more 'upfront' and that we should be telling the truth in our 'cheap-cheap-cheap' advertising stunts? Our answer to that strange question is this.. what exactly do you mean by.. 'telling the truth'?0 -
