Both my wife & I have icesave ISAs. We both received the first emails early on and have been waiting for the second. I thought we had linked accounts but I may be wrong.
Today I received a paper application form, but not my wife. The form has a second column for "Claimant 2(if applicable)" and space for three accounts, could/should I include my wifes details and her account on the same form as mine??
I guess this is really intended for joint accounts so the answer should be no. But having waited this long I don't want to send mine off and my wifes never materialises! On the other hand if I did put us both on the same form maybe we would get our money but only one ISA certificate! Arghh!
Good question Stu - I'd have to agree qith your guess- but I'd suggest you phone them... on the number on the letter... asap 'cos I reckon there'll be a lot of letters going out.. and a lot of questions being fielded on that number.
  • I too received the 'letter' today and when I rang them I was told that its because I had no 'linked' account that I would have to claim via post and that I would be paid by cheque, possibly within 3/4 weeks depending how quickly I posted it back. It was an ISA Easy Acct,by the way.

  • Hi folks, I posted this thread and have followed with interest. Just to add, I did have a linked account because that's how I put the cash in (as stated on my correspondence). I can't remember if this was how I elected to get the money out but nobody ever made it clear that there was a difference between the two. However, paper it is, on maturity with 7% interest, so, for me, there's an end to it. Good luck to everyone - I shall continue to follow (with interest.:rotfl:)

I emailed the FSCS on 17th November with a query and am still waiting for a reply.

Probably quicker to phone them if you can - at least they're answering the phone.
  • Hi peepl,
just to let you know that the FSCS have confirmed that the address on the pre-paid envelope contained with the paper application form is correct. If you wish to send your form recorded delivery, ask the Post Office to manually over-ride their automatic database which at the moment doesn't show the FSCS at that address. They are seeing to it.

    2 x adults, 2 x ISAs, 1 x address, 1 x joint bank account, 1 x e-mail received and 1 x letter received???? How does that work?

Am in the same boat as most people above and am now very unhappy following a phone call with FSCS.

Have a joint account “easy access” saver with husband - NOT fixed term
Have an “easy access” isa for me
Have an “easy access” isa for husband

We both received the 1st email
We both kept on checking our accounts and the initialise tab finally appeared in my account without the 2nd email.
I transferred our joint account money out and my isa, my 2nd email arrived and also the confirmation email.
When husband logged in he also had initialise tab for our joint account but no tab for his isa.
Letter now arrived in the post with form to complete for husbands account.

Have telephoned FSCS and they have said that although we both have a linked account the fact that it is the same one (our joint current a/c) is preventing the OH from transferring money. They have said that once the main account holder has transferred funds out to that account the other user will be unable to and that everyone who has accounts such as ours will have to fill in the form and apply by post for a cheque which may take up to 6 weeks. As the linked account is the same they are doing this to prevent fraud and the only way you will get your money back is by filling in the form. I have never heard such a load of old cobblers, they didn’t mind the linked account being the same when the money was going in!

I was in the middle of a house purchase when Icesave and Kaupthing Edge went down and had to take out an extra mortgage to complete on the house. Having had to wait for KE to give us our money back it seems we are playing the waiting game again and I am still brassic having to pay for the stupid extra mortgage.

What I would like to know FSCS is why didn’t you mention this in your first email and send the forms out then instead of having us all checking for the 2nd email that was never going to come.

Words fail me at this point!

I too have recieved the letter on Monday and I too have a linked account. Recieved the first Email but never the second.
Phoned the helpline and got through without much of a delay only to be told if you have recieved a letter then you have NO option but to proceed down the paper route. The nice guy on the phone said he had all day of people with the same questions and that the main reason (unoffically) is that the electronic route can only handle a set number accounts per day and that the promise to have everyone sorted by mid Dec 08 was never really achievable, so a large percentage will be sent letters in the next week to pick up the slack so at least everyone has been contacted.
He did say to that offically it will take 6 weeks to recieve a cheque in the post but again unoffically said that this will be unlikely and I'll have to wait for a "good couple of months".
This is very scary as the money I saved is all required for my self assesment tax which must be paid 31st Jan. I'm sure the government will be fining me for the late payment of the tax even though I'm waiting on their body to make the payment.
Fingers crossed the application doesn't go missing in the post as I tried to send it recorded but the post office has no record of the address.

Sorry to say Gerontius that a 'transfer in' wouldn't establish a linked account. Accounts can accept funds from anywhere... but you have to tell them where to send funds to - and if you haven't told 'em, you don't have a linked account.

Thanks Buttwhy? It seems they tell each person something different each time they call but the end result is the same...DELAY! Why oh why am I surprised...

OH works away so I can't even send the sodding form off yet as need him to sign it.

Have a good day all :D

  • This is very very poor, my 2nd email arrived yesterday (sorted)

My wife has just received a bloody letter that has taken 6 days to get here, They have no explanation why when she has a linked account, i rang the FcSC today to be told just a load of waffle.

Rang Ice save to be told they are just well behind with the whole bloody process & they are forcing people on to the paper route to buy more time.

Once on the paper route you cannot come off it

This whole process appears to be FALLING APART. So now another 6 weeks minimum to get a cheque !

The logon is fine, the only thing missing is the 2nd initiate claim button ! the first one is there !
