i'd say keep the premium bonds, if you get desparate and need some cash they'll come in handy!
Good luck in your quest to being debt free!Abbey Loan £6,000
Tesco loan £3,000
Tesco points --- £100 worth £400 in deals for holiday! :j :T

I would say the OP is at the desperate stage NOW
Savings, charity, Lotto, washing machine insurance are things that are nice to have/do if you have spare cash at the end of the month!
You're 2 accident policies, have you looked to see how much it would cost to get a decent life assurance policy that would cover you if a tragedy should occur? Martin has an article about it on the site.
I'm sure you could get a decent sized policy and still save a bit of money on your outgoings while covering you for a worst case scenario.
As others have said, be cutthroat on your outgoings and get that storecard paid off this month, it will give you a boost and get you working on ways to pay off the others.
Best of luck with it, but remember every pound you waste is a pound that you could be knocking off your debts.

Well done for all the effort you've put in already and good luck with clearing your debts!. I can see a huge difference in the tone of your posts already - the support you get here will keep that going.
On the Lottery - one point I always make to folks:
Play if you want but the odds are 14 million to 1.
If you spent £100 per week on the Lottery, statistically it could take 2700 YEARS before you hit the jackpot!! (14 million combinations/ 52 weeks/ £100). But then you could win it on Saturday....... But if you did win it ??? - how long till you're back in debt because your spending habits won't have changed?
Maybe you should chant "two thousand seven hundred" before you play!
Again good luck and keep us posted.Apparently, if you lose one sense, others senses are enhanced. That's why those who have no sense of humour have an enlarged sense of self-importance.0 -
Thanks guys. I called the Consumer Credit Counselling Service this morning and have made an appointment with a debt counsellor.
I have also ordered all my credit reports from the 3 companies equifax, experian and callcredit to make sure theres nothing dodgy on my file (i know the guy that had our flat before us was in debt as we still sometimes get letters for him)
I am really looking forward to trying to sort this mess out!!
I have written letters to all my creditors explaining the situation and that I have been advised to cancel the direct debits and make token payments for the time being and asking them to freeze interest til after my appointment.
things are looking up - sort of.
i will have to add my debt into my signature so that we can track it!0 -

If your still getting letters for a previouse tenant i would visit http://www.mpsonline.org.uk to stop the mail firstly and secondly check your credit reports and dis assosicate yourself from EveryoneIf it doesnt pay rent sell it.

Hi
I'm an MSE virgin and this is my 1st post but am looking forward to clearing all my debts. Am also being refused any more credit but am happy to accept as I do believe that this has given me the kick i need.
Just to say that I am in a premium bond syndicate. There are now 14 of us and we now own £12,200. We have won 6 times in the last 7 months. (nothing before this, nearly 2 1/2 years). We pay £10pw and I see this as my only savings or back up plan if anything goes wrong with children, dogs, funeral etc. When we win we put it straight back into the bonds as was voted by majority or the syndicate.
We used to run a lottery syndicate until we got fed up of never winning and losing everything. At least with the bonds you have you have a small back up plan if ever needed, you will still get that money back if needing to cash it in and you're still getting the chance to with the £1 million (twice now, as they have 2 draws).
Let us know how you get on with the letters you wrote. Believe or not you have inspired me with all the changes you have made so quickly and the effort you have put in.
Good luckAlways plan for your future, it's where you'll spend the rest of you're life0 -
the premium bonds syndicate sounds like a brilliant idea, much better than the lottery thats for sure.
i am going to think about my lottery habit (is it a habit when it costs £2 a week? - oh I s'pose so!)
wow, glad that i have inspired you to think more positively. i really felt like it was the end of the world last week when i was being refused credit left right and centre. but now i see that this was a good thing and that i can do something about it.
i will certainly keep this thread updated with anything that happens. I have sent off my letters this morning so my creditors should get them either tomorrow or monday!
i expect hostile responses, but you never know. i have made it clear that the debt is going to be addressed and that i have an appointment with the debt counsellor on 20th jan (apparently it's a very busy time of year)0
