lol Skinny :o I do have a bit of a thing for kitchen gadgets! Thing is I only get what I know I'll use or save me money, there are many things I hanker after like a gorgeous Kitchenaid or Kenwood BUT my moulinex food processor is really easy to use and more practical for the size kitchen I have *sob* so even when my Mum offered to buy me one I couldn't justify it,the expense OR the space

Re the dough I'd use a single recipe for the panny enriched as because it rises so much it'll easily fill a 2lb tin, don't forget to prove it with clingfilm on in a warm place but keep an eye on it,I had to beat mine back down under the rim as I got called away at the last minute :rotfl:
  • Thanks D&DD.

Can't wait for my tin to arrive. What gas mark shall i bake it on and do i let it rise without its lid?

What size is yours?( Pullman tin envy :D )

The bread pan is made from heavy gauge aluminum for best strength and conductivity.

    It produces a thin-crusted, square-cornered bread.

Ideal for close-grained, soft white sandwich breads.

    Bread pan dimension: 30cm x 9 cm x 10cm

This is the spec for mine :D
I need to do another one tomorrow the two I made yesterday are all gone!!!
Let it rise until its about 1" below the rim then pop the lid on and rise for around 10 minutes more.
I baked mine on 190c not sure what that is in gas :o Bake for 25mins then remove the lid for the last 10 mins.
This dough feels so soft when baked but firms up a little when its cooled and slices so easily :D

:rotfl: ok you caught me :D
  • I bought an identical tin. Did you get it from noonoo?

You said you doubled up the enriched dough recipe. Would you now go back to a single recipe as you say it rises too much?

goodness I never thought of putting weight on it - thanks a lot. I shall rport back later although I don't have high hopes as the dough in question was pulled out of the bm this am and bunged in the fridge and has just been kneaded again.

.... as promised - well I put a tray on top and two bean tins filled with water which I thought would serve the dual purpose of weight and steam. the dough rose enough to lift the improvised lid a couple of inches although luckily the tins stayed atop so the oven was not flooded. Result - a mushroom with a flat top that couldn't even pass for "poor bread" let alone the unheard of luxury of supermarket bread - sigh - the moral of the story is that my evergrowing list of dream-gadgets has a new addition

:D Yes I did get mine there :D so use a double recipe,it doesn't look enough when you put it into the tin but rises really well ooh exciting we need pics you know ;)
I've confused you sorry! when you said 2lb tin I thought you meant the 'normal' 2lb size/shape.

Aw Steph what a shame.I would have thought that would have been enough weight to have worked. I suppose it's cos this dough grows like 'The Blob' ...its got a life of its own!!

They sell this type of loaf tin at Amazon France. I'm not sure if they are more expensive than D&DD's source. I can say that delivery is very fast from Amazon.fr and the site is easy to use even if you don't read French - you use the same password and the checkout procedure is identical to the UK site.
