They sell this type of loaf tin at Amazon France. I'm not sure if they are more expensive than D&DD's source. I can say that delivery is very fast from Amazon.fr and the site is easy to use even if you don't read French - you use the same password and the checkout procedure is identical to the UK site.

Thanks, but I don't want one. I have one. It's not working right though.

I missed this thread the first time around, so I'm glad it's popped back up as I've been looking at those Pullman tins on ebay.

My sons will eat my bread and rolls with soups, but they don't like them for sandwiches because the crusts are too thick apparently, so a Pullman looks like it would sort that problem out.
  • With a bit of help from Jamie Oliver, I have finally managed to produce decent homemade bread :j and am now determined to make more of it.

The tin I have is a bit short (about 25 cm long and less than 10 cm deep). I would like a tin to fit the sort of size that the standard loaves come from in the shops.

If you use that kind of size, where did you get your tin from ?

    Thank you
    Keep calm and carry on
  • I have just invested in a 2lb silicone bread 'tin'. Have had various non stick/ordinary/ceramic bread tins over the years and can honestly say this is the best one yet.

Loaves come out with no problem, are a good shape and it's easy to clean. Never stuck since I've been using it. It's by wellbake and has a 10 year guarantee. I bought it from their website http://www.wellbake.co.uk/ but it's also available from Amazon.

Bought it about 3 weeks ago and have used it almost daily, so it's already made my life easier.

Just to be contrary, I absolutely hate silicone tins! I like the muffin cases but the other various silicone bakeware I've acquired over the last year or so lies unused. Horses for courses - I know a lot of people who really like them.

Anyway if you want to make something similar to the bread you buy in the shops - I assume you mean Kingsmill etc - you probably want a Pullman tin. They're not cheap, unfortunately. I just use a bogstandard 2lb loaf tin a bit like this one, for a loaf using about 450-500g flour, but that sounds like the same size you already have.

I use a standard size silicone loaf tin from lakeland .I find it less hassle to use than a metal tin,and it is far more easier to clean
