Looking for some cheap cat food websites?

Options
I have two kittens, who did eat kitten food until we couldn't get hold of any and had to buy big cat food so now they are being fussy and will only eat big cat food.

Anyway my problem is trying to get hold of cheap cat food? My kittens won't eat tins nor kitten food...

Thanks

They will if they're hungry ;)

So you need dried adult food yeah? I'll have a look. Do you want the premium or anything? I'd guess supermarket own brands might be cheapest really. I think tho it's worth paying for a quality food because it's so important. I'll go have a look! P@H do a great food but it's probably more than you'd want, not sure how much the dried is but the wet is £4 a box! I'll post once i've had a look!

To give your cats cheap cat food whether wet or dry all your doing is feeding them s.h.i.t.e. Why not try Raw. You may have a local butcher willing to give you the off cut of meat that they cannot sell to the public. You could also feed them the food you have for example, if your having mince meat, you could put some aside for the cats before you cook it.

If you don't fancy the idea of raw then at least feed them Whiskers or Felix rather then cheap nasty food like a supermarkets own brand.

I didn't really like the idea of Raw food but today I gave my Oscar mince and he lapped it up and loved it.

Feed them a decent dry food like Arden Grange, Burns or James Wellbeloved. There are lots of cheap places on the web - as I buy cat and dog food at the same time I find www.vetuk.co.uk cheapest but sometimes it can vary depending on what "flavour" you order. That site doesn't charge postage if you order over £39 worth of food in one order (which we usually do... 15kg dog food and 7.5kg cat food... does last a while tho!).

the same manufacturers that make Whiskers & Felix make supermarkets own brand wet & dry food - you just pay more money for the same s.h.i.t.e:eek: ! I thought all moneysavers knew about branding cons!

Buy a measuring cup - feed proper dried food (don't free feed) & they can get their moisture from tap water. The younger you start them on it the better.

Or buy decent cat food... like the ones mentioned above :)
They might look like they cost more kg for kg but you need to feed less as it's not as much rubbish filler or cheap low quality protein.
I used to beed Tesco's premium catfood and changed over when my dog trainer advised me to change my dog food - figured I might as well change the cats food! And I wouldn't swap back! One of my cats has been struggling with weight for all his life - not being fat, but definitely cuddly - he's for the first time ever looking like he should! Which is vital as after an accident he only has one hip joint and too much weight would apply too much pressure which would be detrimental to his health. Their coats were glossy before but they are definitely healthier these days! Even with winter coats on they look nice and shiny - and as you need to feed less it works out the same if not cheaper than rubbish food with loads of colourants in...

Please, please, please don't give the kittens dried food. In fact, please don't feed any cat dried food.

    Why?

I've always fed my cats on dry food, with the odd tin of pilchards or a spoonful of cat food to make sure they were all home at bedtime. :D

None (of the 12) ever had any diet related health problems and only one had to have a dental when she got to be about 12 years old.

IMO theres nothing wrong with dry food as long as it's fed correctly, and it's certainly the MSE way to feed.
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D

I have had cats most of my entire life. The cat I had the longest had a mixed diet: felix, dried food & some raw & some human cooked food (chicken stew, cheese & jelly being her favourites) & she died @ 21 yrs old - having surivived many cat fights & a few car accidents. I don't have the time or inclination to indulge my current cats to give them the lifestyle that Lucy had (family home with many occupants & back & front garden) so by your reckoning I wasn't feeding her right then:rotfl: & my current two are suffering!

I agree it's not wise to feed them just dry food but as long as you add wet food, raw food or a few tins a week as a treat, I see no problem in it as long as it's a good quality one.

So long as you feed a GOOD dried food (and by that I don't mean Felix and Whiskas :) ) and make sure they have plenty of water then there is nothing wrong with feeding dry food. Mine have the occassional tin, pouch or macrel as a treat and ditto once a month they get a bowl of cat milk each. At 8/9 neither is showing signs of any urinary problems and they have the teeth of a 2 year old (well bar the one that got snapped in half when the boy cat decided to bite the asphalt after taking on a car...)
