I'm a solicitor and I intend to work right to the end of my pregnancy. I am always representing clients in court and my biggest fear is my waters breaking whilst I am in court in front of a judge. I think knowing me I would probably carry on with the case - court and my clients time is too precious!!!

    :rotfl:

I can only try to imagine how the judge would react to that!

I was another one who needed the crochet hook in hospital....never mind being MSE, I didn't have to clear it up! :D
  • I echo what others have said, please don't use 999 for an ambulance if you're in labour unless there are known complications.

It's perfectly fine to use the 'number given to you' - as non-urgent cases (known as GP expected) are often taken to hospital by ambulance - if you have absolutely no other way of getting there/need to have some sort of medical input on the way there.

999 calls to women in labour are affectionally known as a 'Mambulance' and the crew will not thank you for it. Please bear that in mind, especially if your call means that they can't make it to someone who is a true emergency.
  • With my first they broke at my parents house on my return visit from their downtairs toilet. They'd had new carpet laid 2 days before and I remember shouting "My waters have gone, quick a towel" as I entered the lounge. He was born 4 hours later, start to finish.

With our daughter they went in bed as I sat up in the morning, no pain initially and straight to dilating. Due to our son's rapid appearance we were keen to get to the birthing centre and upon the MW inspecting me she said excitedly, "I can see you baby's head", to which I replied "I know I told you that on the phone" (They didn't believe I was dilating without contractions). They must have happened overnight in my sleep. Anyway she was 2 hours start to finsh.

We won't have another one, don't think we'd make it to a MW.

I heard Tesco would give you a year's worth of nappies, but wasn't fortunate enough to test it out.
  • Mine broke ( a week early) in our local pub.

Didn't even get a free drink.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Mine was very anti-MSE with the taxpayers money. Four doctors wasted their precious time, seven crochet hooks went unused, six pairs of latex gloves and ... none of them managed to get a drop :D. Not to mention all the gas and useless air I used up during that lovely experience . And no, none of them sent flowers

I'm tempted to stick a cushion up my jumper tomorrow, walk into Marks and Spencers and pee myself, pretending my waters have gone......would I get Barnstormer Cheese for life? :D

Seriously though, when my waters broke I was up a step-ladder stripping wallpaper - it was just a dribble though so I thought I was having bladder problems :o - 8 hours later and I was still 'dribbling' and the hospital said 'we think you better come in' - DD was born 24 hours later

Harrods is too far for me to travel ;)
  • If I was home alone and my water went I would call a midwife not an ambulance
Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me
