Mine broke in bed but I managed to get to the loo before I made a mess. I'd put a plastic sheet down just in case, because we'd just forked out over £1000 for a new tempur matress...0

Best MSE place to be is at Home. Get an ambulance to take you to hospital - saves petrol and car parking fees.....
Please don't call an ambulance unless its an emergency they are not a taxi service!!0 -
Personally, if I were at home and my waters break, then yes I would call an ambulance as it is an emergency. (Not to save a few pounds in the car park - that was a tongue in cheek comment).
If your waters break at home, you are supposed to call the maternity unit for advice and call an ambulance if you have no other way to get to the hospital (because you certainly cannot drive yourself there!)0 -

My waters have always been broken in hospital with a crochet-hook type thing
But friends whose waters have broken in town or at home have never had their baby the same day. One was induced 3 days after her water went. Everyone I know has rushed to hospital when their waters go, and been sent home again until they are actually in labour.52% tight0 -
Mine were broken in hospital for me.
But went into labour the day before, rang the maternity unit told to go have a bath, did that a few more hours later rang them again, told to have another bath, did that, rang them a few more hours later and they eventually said to come in and told me a phone a certain number for an ambulance (not 999) ambulance was with us within 20 mins.Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -
I'm a solicitor and I intend to work right to the end of my pregnancy. I am always representing clients in court and my biggest fear is my waters breaking whilst I am in court in front of a judge. I think knowing me I would probably carry on with the case - court and my clients time is too precious!!!Proud Mummy to Leila aged 1 whole year:j0
